When the table does make it out, will you be able to share battlemap layouts with other subscribers? Not if they're connected to the same game you are, but something that would be up and downloadable?

My impression is that file sharing is not part of the Game table. The vaults would be locked to user and so on. It clearly is possible in the meeting place that Urls perhaps even maps could be posted, however not sure how the hoped for meet and greet will be set up.

Yes, you will be able to publish adventures file from the Game Table. You can save them on your hard drive, and then share the files for others to use if you are so inclined.

This is correct, file sharing is not part of the Game Table, but the Game Table will allow to publish an adventure file locally.
Then when a DM starts a session, he or she can load any adventure file he or she has access to.

Locally on the clients machine or locally on the WotC servers?

Locally on the client machines.
Some files, like the official adventures, will live on the WOTC servers and have access rights management to be able to use them.

So client side saved materials could be freely traded with other people. Possibly even sold depending on the TOA and EULA for DDI apps?

Regarding selling, this is not a question that I can answer. People will be able to create their own files with their content and store them on their local hard drive. It is certainly envisioned that is you have a cool character, you can share that character file with your friend, like you can already do with your character sheet for example.

But at least the client-side stored data will be transferable rather than locked with digital rights management or some other form of preventing people from "sharing" the files without using the exact same amchine.

IE: travel to friends house and carry your character/adventure on a USB key and plug it in there to use.

Thanks, WizDM, for the clarification on this. The big reason I asked, and what I'd really like to see is this.

If DDi ends up being the huge success WotC hopes/plans that it will be, and beyond being a success being a nice solid program, and since the GSL specifically forbids the licensing of interactive/computer games, and since a major (some would say only) idea behind GSL is to promote the sale of WotC's/4E products, that with DDi we could see 3pp adventure items for download (be it for free or for a price). The easiest would be, of course, tiles and maps, although it would be nice to see vminis, datasets, maybe even skins for the visualizer, into the mix there as well.
