Shouldn't be any delay that I'm aware of. Once you open the Character Builder (from a fresh launch) the "Update" button will light up - at which point you should be able to login and grab the latest updates.

I know the DDI website sometimes has a delay that requires all of your browser windows to be closed, then re-opened before you can login, but I'm not aware of any delays for the CB.

Hope that helps!

I think he may be refering to the day or so wait before your subscription is activated. I had to wait ~ 24 hours.

Hey guys,

I'm the Business Manager for D&D Insider. I'll try to clear up some of the confusion here.

WolfStar is right that sometimes when you initially sign-up, you'll need to get your browser to forgot your previously unsubscribed state and ask our system to re-check for your new subscribed status. So this is for accessing Dragon and Dungeon articles and the Compendium -- but the Character Builder doesn't have any of these browser issues.
So if you successfully placed an order through e-commerce, and can't get the Character Builder to recognize your login, please contact Customer Service right away.

As for Jhanzur's comment, it really shouldn't take 24 hours to get access. If everything goes smoothly, it'll be pretty much instantaneous. That said, sometimes it doesn't go smoothly, and we work hard on trying to catch problems as soon as they happen. But don't wait! Let CS know and we'll help you get access as soon as possible.
