| #1pwneddOct 17, 2010 5:47:37 | I'm not sure if this is a bug, or just something that I don't understand, but when I use the character builder to add a "Delver's Plate Armor +2" to a character, they get a +11 AC bonus (9 + 2) and the base AC bonus shows up as "9". Shouldn't it be 8? Or am I missing something? |
| #2Neutronium_DragonOct 17, 2010 6:07:31 | It's probably automatically upgrading the base armor type to the first masterwork variety. |
| #3pwneddOct 17, 2010 6:09:59 | I thought it might be doing that, but then the first masterwork plate armor has an AC bonus of +10, so if that were the case it should be adding +12 and not +11. |
| #4pwneddOct 17, 2010 6:15:15 | Oops. Nevermind- I forgot that additional types of MW armor were added in later books. It looks like there are other kinds. Is there any way to control this in the software? Or should I be use the Masterwork armor anyways? |
| #5pwneddOct 17, 2010 6:34:21 | In either case it does seem to be a bug- selecting either normal plate mail or "layered plate mail" (+1 masterwork armor) with the Delver's Armor +2 both result in the same AC. |
| #6Neutronium_DragonOct 17, 2010 8:51:09 | You should generally be using the best masterwork type available - it's an assumed part of the armor progression. |

| #8JonTheBoldOct 19, 2010 12:13:30 | I'm not sure if this is a bug, or just something that I don't understand, but when I use the character builder to add a "Delver's Plate Armor +2" to a character, they get a +11 AC bonus (9 + 2) and the base AC bonus shows up as "9". It definitely seems to be a bug. A Dwarf Paladin I play with just got Martyr's Plate Armor +3 (just regular plate mail, not masterwork) and on his character sheet it shows his AC as two points higher than it should be. Where it shows the armor's base value, it shows it as 10 instead of 8. When I go to the Shop section of Character Builder to see his equipment, though, it shows it correctly as base AC of 8. In any case, Masterwork armor is never assumed regardless of the enhancement bonus. You can have "Plate +6" or "God Plate +6" and they are two different items with two different AC bonuses. The trick with Masterwork armor is that, for example, God Plate (if it is enchanted) cannot hold an enchantment lower than +6. So if you find magical God Plate, it will be +6, whereas if you find magical Plate, it could be anything from +1 to +6. Hopefully they'll get this straightened out soon. Until then, you'll just have to compute AC manually and write it onto your character sheet. Here's the link to another forum post on this topic: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... |
