| #1iolympianMar 01, 2009 20:51:13 | I've installed, reinstalled char builder, manually installed .net whatever, and when I run anything char builderesque, I received a "do you want to send the report" error. I'm running win xp sp3 Anyways have any clues? I had my firewall off too. Help. |
| #2iolympianMar 02, 2009 7:56:01 | I also let my computer sit for 12 hours thinking about it's offense, and the character builder is still not working. Continues to throw the Microsoft-needs-to-know-about-this error. Anyone have any good ideas on how I can make the demonstration version of this product work so I can make a well-educated decision prior to purchase? :-) |
| #3The_ArchitectMar 03, 2009 12:07:14 | Iolympian Since this is the first time I've seen this particular problem, it will be tough for me to diagnose without additional information. I have a few questions that may help determine the problem and some things things to check. 1. Is this a laptop, especially an older one or very low end? The character builder is built on WPF technology that uses DirectX to render by default. Some laptops have poor DirectX hardware acceleration support. If this is the case, you can try updating drivers and/or going to your display options, choosing advanced and under the Troubleshooting tab, turn off or reduce Hardware acceleration. 2. When you installed the application, did you run as a user with full admin rights. (Unlikely to be the issue, but Windows can be strange at times) 3. Confirm that you have .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed. (The SP1 is important) 4. Are you running the application from the shortcut on the desktop or in your start menu. If running directly from the program files directory you may be running the wrong executable. Sorry I can't be more specific, but unfortunately with Windows there are so many variations of environment that issues like these are tough to solve remotely. If you are unable to solve the problem, you may find it useful to talk to our customer service directly, as they provide excellent support. |
