| #1ObertonSep 04, 2010 9:08:04 | The module talks about setting the tone and feel for the adventure by using areas to get the players into the look and feel of the underdark. Over the years I know I have seen images from various products and etc that kind of depict the scenes below... Does anyone have links or suggestions for images? My group uses RPTOOLS and I like to display images such as these on the HD TV for them to view...
They mention these areas (on page 7 of the module):
- The Lake of Fire: The adventurers enter a cavern lit by a bright, yellow glow. The cavern is much hotter than the passages they navigatedto reach this place. In the middle of the cavern, apool of magma about 50 feet wide bubbles and pops. Asmall metal island sets in the middle of the molten rock.Smaller metal platforms, each no more than 5 feet across, provide pathways across the pool.
- Forgotten Gods: This one-mile-long cavern is scarcely 50 feet across at itswidest point. Along the length of this place, deep niches eachhold a black, basalt idol of a strange being. The idols rangefrom 20 to 60 feet tall, and they depict strange, hornedbeings clad in robes, armor made from discs of metal, andother strange gear. Here and there, denizens of the Underdarkhave left small offerings to these statues—a small bag ofcopper coins here, a wreath of withered fungi there, etc.
- The Outpost: The adventurers come to a wide rift that cuts across thetunnel they follow. A narrow stone bridge leads across therift, and on the opposite side stands a small stone building.Everburning torches are set in the sockets on the building’souter walls. If the adventurers cross the bridge, theyfind the building to be windowless and featuring a single, barred stone door. If they open the door (DC 23 Strengthcheck), they find that the building consists of a singlechamber filled with dust and thick cobwebs. The skeletalremains of four humans clad in rusted platemail are allthat remain of this place’s defenders. A thorough search ofthe room (DC 23 Perception check) reveals that the warriorsdied fighting each other after barring the door shut.
