Did the original 4E PH1 Fighter class get deleted from the Compendium?

So today my friend and I were trolling through the Compendium comparing the strengths and weaknesses of the various Defender classes' Mark abilities... when I ran I search for Fighter... lo and behold the PH1 Fighter isn't in the system any more. I had a friend run the same search and he got the same results.

Someone tell me this is a technical error and not WotC trying to erase more original 4E in favor of Essentials bunk. (Okay it isn't bunk to many, but it isn't the campaign we are running for sure.)

Okay, I see what you are saying but that isn't exactly an answer.

The compendium was theoretically supposed to support all the books and not just all the Essentials redos.

The least that could have been done was some sort of Wikipedia style stub that says Fighter - Please Now See Weaponmaster.

What if someone doesn't own the new books and only has PHB1 and Martial Power? Isn't this kind of wonky?

I believe that Wizards has mentioned that they are looking into a way to possibly represent this differently to eliminate any confusion.  Until then, nothing has been erased and Weaponmaster = Fighter.

The Fighter being renamed into Weaponmaster was in a Class Compendium article releaed in Dragon magazine a while back.  As a D&Di subscriber, you have access to those issues and, thus, have access to the article in question.
