#1 Artifact Jun 16, 2009 11:01:45	Forgotten Realms and Eberron both receive support in the pages of Dragon/Dungeon. As more and more settings are released however, there will be less room to explore each and every setting and still maintain a level of general interest in the mags. Even though actual space isn't a concern, a virtual mag still has a page count to meet, yes ;)? What about digital support for the D&D settings, independent of the mags (outside their page counts)? Insider would still be the place to find support for your favorite setting (as is the plan now). There wouldn't be the issue however of setting material crowding out more general interest stuff. So, the Forgotten Realms might appear under the banner "The Gray Box" (an attempt at cleverness, forgive me ;)). The amount of resources devoted to support of the settings shouldn't change, they'd just be relocated. Instead of a support article appearing every few months in the mags, it would appear somewhere else on-site, under the Insider banner (same people involved, they'd just work 'across the hall' that day ;)). We wouldn't necessarily be seeing more support this way, just more of the same. The mags still do their thing but without having to worry about 'overcrowding' as the number of settings (and their support) continue to rise. Also, this would give the impression (at least) that each setting is receiving dedicated support, where in the mags, support sometimes appears as an afterthought. I'm not concerned ;), just throwing this out there to see if anyone's interested in sharing their thoughts/opinions.
#2 Ore Jun 17, 2009 18:27:32	Not a bad idea really. Isn't Forgotten Realms getting a lot of support under the Living Forgotten Realms setup though? I know that doesn't do much for Eberron. However, a page for each setting with regular updates for Insiders is a nice idea and something that could easily be implemented.
#3 gregt_314 Jun 18, 2009 4:10:24	Sounds good. I tell you what I'd love; a blog-style page for each setting. Three updates a week - on Mondays and Wednesdays we get one or two paragraphs only, just like an NPC write-up or town description, and then on Fridays we get something more meaty, an article. Or (*sigh*) I guess a post a week would be more in keeping with the current release schedule, with three short ones and then a long one once a month. Not that I actually care about Forgotten Realms or Eberron; I'm just getting my foot in the door for Dragonlance next year.

The amount you got for each setting in supplement books in pre-4e editions absolutely dwarfs the trickle of articles that appear in the e-zines. Previously you could buy those supplement books for settings you liked, but now to get any support you have to subscribe to the DDI and in a manner of speaking, subsidize other material that you might not even be interested in because you can't buy things ala carte.
