Are there other places where the maps are available?

It seems really odd to me that the books don't include an appendix with full-scale maps to copy and mount. They've got maps, but they're printed so small, and are hence totally useless for using as encounters.

Are we expected to just redraw them on battle-mats?

If so, then why include all the little details and shadows, and scenery?

For instance - we're trying out 4ed this weekend, and I want to run the little dungeon at the end of the DMG. Is there a place to get a scale version of that dungeon, or pieces of it to that I could print and mount?

May 27, 2009 17:03:20 I just opened one in photoshop, looks like the scale is about 1/2 inch per square on the maps. If you know anyone that knows photoshop or gimp, its easy enough to enlarge them. Keep in mind you'll probably have to cut them into pieces, since they won't fit on 8x11 paper.

BTW, you don't need to subscribe to DDi to get the maps, the gallery is free.

If it were up to me, I'd have a URL in every book so that the DM could download printable, miniature-scaled maps of every location in the book.

These maps would be split up so that the pieces could be printed on 8.5x11 paper, mounted, and then laid out to make the entire dungeon/location.

It just seems like a no-brainer to me.

So far as I can tell, not all of the maps are even in the gallery.

I wanted to check Insider out, and after I did I decided that 1 month will be plenty.

But wouldn't you need hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of tiles to make even the most basic of dungeons?

Oh...wait a minute...

Not at all actually even, I have two copies of the tiles that came with "treasure of talon pass" (free RPG day adventure last year) and a single set of dungeon tiles, and I get by quite well.

It helps that the dungeon tiles work very well with Dry erase markers (don't leave the marker on for more than a couple hours so it will remove properly)

Only if you want to buy the out-of-print sets that for some reason WOTC won't reprint. ;)
