Wouldn't it be cool if wizards were to release dnd insider's 3d table top for the Nintendo DS? It seems like a perfect platform for it, wifi internet build in, touch screens and a built in microphone. I'd buy a ds just for dnd insider. Hope wizards is reading this, nudge nudge. tether it off your cell phone to play DND anywhere, any time. Sounds like an epic win, to me.

Screw the DS, what about the iPhone?
the iphone doesnt have the same utility. besides the new windows phones kick the crap out of iphones, the htc touch pro is an iphone destroyer of worlds. $300 vs $850, not even in the same class. the only thing iphones are good for is web browsing... winphones can run incredible amounts of software with 4 gigs internal storage and near 300mb of ram.
actually, i would be pretty keen on DDI for DS. me and 3 others of my playgroup are all DS enthusiasts (one of my buddy uses DS note software as his major notebook for our GURPS game). while i'm not keen on the pricing, i wouldn't be against having some sort of software available for it that mimics a map & dice roller.
The DS could do everything visually, but it would suffer in communication. If it were text-communication, you would have to use a touch keyboard. Typing with a stylus on one of those is an arduous process for anything longer than a single word. Of course, the DS can do voip, but for any decent quality everyone would need one of those headsets they invented for Pokemon Diamond.
And when you really think about it, how often would you play DDIDS at Starbucks or the airport? Maybe once, but generally, wouldn't you play at home, near your own wireless router... ten feet from your computer?
