Playing DnD online is far from dead though, especially if you have a regular group of people that enjoy hooking up.

The answer:

As for the DDI Game Table, it's on the back-burner until further notice. WotC had to do a serious re-evaluation of their digital initiative. While I have no doubt that the Game Table will eventually be released, I don't think anyone (WotC staff included) can answer when it will be.

In the mean time, there is OpenRPG, RPTools, AIM, and at least a good dozen other online ways to play D&D. Pick one, have fun, and be patient.

Allow me to submit, as proof, a link to the Real Adventures Setup Zone, a subsection of the wizards website where hundreds of people (ok, ok, maybe just a few of us spread over hundreds of games :D ) play DnD over the internet.

Mar 30, 2009 9:52:40 I've been DMing the Scales of War adventure path using Screenmonkey, and we're having loads of fun. It's easy to import all the maps from Dungeon magazine or the Wizards galleries, and its got pretty much everything you need to play a good game.
