| #1serphetApr 05, 2009 23:29:28 | since the topics not up yet... this system is very cool! when are we going to get more class writeups (phb2?) This would totally get used more if the other half of classes got a hybrid stat entry... |
| #2serphetApr 06, 2009 0:35:19 | ok phb2 things aren't to hard actually. the main thing is picking the powers out. They're always role specific, leaders get two (the heal power, limited to 1/enc; a leader augment) all armors are in the listing all weapons in the listing all implements in the listing. defense is halved (or if split, you make it a choice initial hp is halved (round down) hp/level is halved (round down) HS's/day are halved (round down) all trained skills are listed.classes that get to chose 4 get a bonus choice, classes that start with 2 automatically get a bonus choice (these stack). avenger OoE, works only on evenger powers barbarian - toughy, rampage or rage strike bard - song of rest and majestic word (MW 1/enc) druid - wildshape invoker - channel divinity is the only one that makes sense to me, what do you guys think? Build defining features are normally left out. shaman - Companion spirit (this will need modification, cut the at will powers? [yes I mean both]), healing spirit Sorcerer - spell source is the only feature :/ it's build defining. (allow none? makes hybrid talent useful) warden - nature's wrath. |
| #3serphetApr 06, 2009 1:54:05 | ridiculous builds: ... pally/warlock mark, curse, and eyebite... (become trained in stealth[mc ranger?] for bonus points) cleric/warlord Righteous brand and commander's strike |
| #4DragolothApr 06, 2009 2:09:38 | I'm really likeing the initial look of this. There could be some really amazing class combos with this. There is even potential for a shield useing barbarian. |
| #5ppaladin123Apr 06, 2009 2:59:21 | ridiculous builds: ... You can also go star-pact warlock/paladin....student of caiphon or morninglord. Ranger/cleric ---> Thay Infiltrator looks very nice now. I think an inspiring warlord would mesh well with a strength cleric as well given the number of cleric powers with charisma riders. |
| #6z64danApr 06, 2009 3:12:12 | I'm absolutely in love with the hybrid stuff I've seen so far. Hats off to wotc. I'm sure there's some technical balancing to do, but I am really happy (as a frustrated Ranger/Cleric who could only take one acolyte power to heal people). Also what is with multiclassers not ever getting access to channel divinity? Jeez even if you spend 4 feats + multiclass paragon path, you STILL don't get channel divinity. It is pretty much impossible (yet it is a cool feature that I would spend a feat for). I like that there is a real cost, as in you lose class features and other stats (My ranger/cleric would get 4hp per level instead of 5 that I normally got, which at level 16 is 15hp down the pot). This is as opposed to multiclassing, which is just a place to dump your feats, instead of a real "cost". |
| #7TheLoneClericApr 06, 2009 4:42:37 | Meh. So you Fighter/Cleric will never be as good as a Fighter/MC Cleric at being 'sticky'. It's good for cherry picking your starting packages, but there are some serious tradeoffs. |
| #8MalckussApr 06, 2009 5:14:56 | I'd like to see a feat that gives you the full, non-hybrid version of the class features in the article, with the caveat being it is only for one of your classes at a time. I'd also like to see a feat for those who multiclass and take a paragon path of their secondary class to use their implements in the manner allowed by Hybrid classing. I think those two things would balance this system out nicely. |
| #9NullSheenApr 06, 2009 5:24:34 | personally the thing i liked about 4e was that the roles had-their-roles i don't like the look of this, its fraught with the danger of 3.x munchkinism. I know they put a big speach about them wanting to get it right but im walking down the street with my placard on, the end of the world is neigh! |
