#1 burritolord Sep 22, 2010 12:01:40	That is it. I gave them until the 21st to update the character builder for the Darksun Campaign setting and they moved it to some "unknown" day in October. I only used my subscription for character builder. It was a stretch to pay that price even if the tool did stay current with the published books. The complete drop of the virtual tabletop was clear indication that software is not a strenght of this company. A huge feature lost with no reduction in cost also shows them to be weak on the business side as well. I won't even get into how poorly written this software is, because it mostly works but it is nearly useless to me in my current campaign. I've heard a lot of complaints about the lack of updates and I'm sure I won't be the first cancel their account. Good luck in your futrue endevors wizards...you really dropped the ball on this one.

I am playing in s DS campaign now that the Dm won't let us use charecters not built through CC. Still waiting on my arena fighter Mul to actually exist correctly.. This is frustrating. I was running my own home spun 4E game, and found most ofthe info gotten from DDI to be useless, except maybe the dungeoncraft articles maybe 'save my game' from time to time. I own all the MMs so i never needed the monster creator and where the hell are the rest of the advertised 'adventure tools' hire some real programers will you, and maybe people will subscribe more... If the DS updates doesn't hit early Oct, I'm throwing in the towel as well.

All because I am also fed up with the lack of content that I reported half a year ago as a bug and months ago on the forum, and about a month ago via customer service without any response from developers/D&DI. That in addition to all minor issues that have plagued the application was simply too much for me. Customer service was respectful and nice though, they almost convinced me to keep subscribing.

I had gotten used to not getting everything I was promised with things like the virtual tabletop, but it just seems like it's getting more and more frequent. I still have freinds with DDI, so if it suddenly gets a lot better, I'll be able to know, and I'll think about subscribing again, but right now, I've washed my hands of it.
#10 robertread3 Oct 03, 2010 0:58:24	since you only need DDI to update your tools i say just buy a 1 mounth subscription whenever somthing major comes out like i got a 1 month sub in augest for the first time i used the charactor builder put it on all my computers and canceled it when the new update comes out ill take out another month update all my computers cancel it when they come out with players cluster****, your guide to 10 new classes, ill update that badboy again point of all this is why pay a monthly fee? i mean there is no benefit to keep paying since you wont use most of the features they release in the little "just to shut you up" updates

Sure they suck at business and customer service, the worst I've ever seen. Vaporware is written all over the ever-soon-to-be-released DDI tools. But with an average sized group such as I have (5 players 1 DM) all I ask is for my players to give me 10 bucks (NZD) every 6 months, and that pays for the subscription. I spend more on lunch in a week, two weeks tops. Cheer up everyone, and show some support for the Wizards. The fact that they suck at development and customer service means they need our support and guidance more than ever!

I wouldn't dream of not cutting them some slack, good sir. Well… Actually… We have to realize that WotC are not the little cosy group of friends trying to get an awesome product out the door, there are no excuses anymore, they should be considered a fully functional company with all the responsibilities and accountability to its customers that follow. They still have a product I very much want, but I (and many others) paid good money for this and WotC keep botching the execution.

The CS rep that I spoke with (and got refunded for sept) told me that the update is for DS and Essentials... that there isn't even an update ready for Psionic Power yet. Explain to me how the first book.. and easiest to code with no major changes to core functionality is the one excluded from the update???

Herolab pulls it's information for the data from what's available in the Compendium. Right now, they're working on getting the DS stuff added, but it's a matter of the data tool being setup to format it right for the software. If you have a DDI subscription, the tool will pull all the valid info, otherwise you get the data that you'd see without a subscription if you looked at the Compendium. That help? (BTW, I love Herolab for Pathfinder, Mutants and Masterminds and the Cortex system. Really great folks behind Lone Wolf. )
