The Bloodghost Syndicate
by Mike Mearls

Not all goblins lurk in dungeons. Some lurk just out of sight down the next dark alleyway. The Bloodghost Syndicate is a clan of bugbears that runs a mafia-like underworld, engaging in all manner of crimes. Enter their world here.

I like the Curtains and Thieves Door, but no stat block or ritual to explain how to make one and what level or cost it would be. That is kind of annoying.

I thought this was a strong article although I would have liked to see more Bugbear enemy types.

One of the features about 4.0 that I like the most is Creatures Ready to Beat. 3.0 - 3.5 was a nightmare for the GM in creating foes and sucked up most of my time.

I think these incarnations should include a dozen or more custom enemies for the GM to scatter about. But, I really did enjoy this article.

The article was great and basically single-handedly made me redraw a good chunk of my campaign's late Heroic plotline so I could fit the Syndicate in.

I'm just guessing the idea is to also throw in a dabble of the bugbear choices already in the MM guide. You wouldn't take a brute on a stealthy syndicate mission, but you may have them guarding the home base.

This is the only way I can formulate a defense for what is otherwise a good article. Although I too truly enjoy the expansion choices of monsters that come from these types of expansions over most everything else. 9 times out of 10, I wont follow the Syndicate story per say, but love when you are given new Monsters to throw at people they have never seen before. So I just steal them for other adventures.
