#2 jmeitzen01 Sep 20, 2009 3:52:10	I am all for LFR, however it does make it difficult to prep for a game that you have no idea where it is taking place until you commit to running the scenario and download the content only to find that you do not have the required book to use for maps and details about the encounters... I think that that information should be something that we should be able to see before going throught that process and then have to cancel the session because the local game store did not have that book or I couldn.t afford it until it was too late, I like to do some prep work and know what I have to do before I commit my players to playing so I am l=not just as lost as they are and I do not like cancelling events ADAP-1: Barrow Of The Ogre King For player levels 1-2 Information needed to run this Sanctioned Adventure set in the Town of Loudwater can be found in the Forgotten Reals Campaign Guide. For many years, goblins have laired in a nearby dungeon hidden in the boughs of the Southwood. This dungeon is known to some as the Barrow of the Ogre King. Recently, the goblins have become bold enough to leave their dungeon home to raid the nearby town of Loudwater. It is up to your newly-formed band of adventurers to deal with the threat the goblins pose and discover why they’ve attacked the town.   I think that that is easy to see what you need in order to run this adventure, and if the concerns are that a player is going to cheat with that information then what is to stop them from cheating if the player plays in the adventure again... Just help us out here, we need that info before sanctioning an event.
#3 Dragon9 Sep 21, 2009 15:50:21	I'm not really sure what you are talkign about.  All LFR adventures take place in the Forgotten Realms.  A DM should probably have the FR Campaign Guide to start with. All the adventures are self contained with the exception of the Adaptable adventures (of which Barrow of the Ogre King is part of).  If you are unsure, you should post a question over on the LFR forums in the RPGA forums section (which I am the VCL for).  Lots of helpful people over there.  You can check out the official LFR Group as well.

Mind you this is only a suggestion, but I for one do not have time to sanction and cancel adventure after adventure in order to fin something that I have the proper book to use. I make maps for my players and like to help them to envision their environments more than just verbal colour. I do not mean to offend you like you have me, but as a VCL you shouldn't see something that you don't fully understand and just post your response in an attempt to make those that do not post regularily look like idiots. Versus ask the question you need to ask to help clarify things more for yourself. I am just saying that in the instances of the adaptable adventures there needs to be more information up front for us to get what we need with out having to go through the hassle of sanctioning an event only to have to cancel it for reasons other than that of conflicting schedules.

Only adaptables have sources other than the straight download so far, so as long as you stay away from those, you'll be fine
#6 jmeitzen01 Sep 22, 2009 5:58:46	Thank you as I have not tried any other then ADAP 1-4 I had no idea that they were not all like that I still think that that info should be upfront , but I will do as I have to to not have to cancel events.

I stated I wasn't sure exactly what you were gettign at and tried to offer help based on what I could gleen from your post. If you bother to read what I posted I did inform you that all modules were self-contained except for the adaptable adventures.  i also pointed you to places where you coudl get more help if needed.

I am not here to fight. just make a simple suggestion to help us all out, especially those that may be new to LFR. I am sorry that I offended you sir, and when I read your initial reply I did not read it the way that Sithobi1 wrote it. The twist of even one word in a sentence can make a difference in how others may read what you write. But thank you anyways for your advice, and maybe some day I may get over to the threads that you speak of but I have little time to search for new things to read and comment on between work and map making. I saw the discuss the topic of new LFR modules and did just that.
