Second, I assume it means "when you use second chance, and the triggering attack still hits you and reduces you to 0 hit points..." etc... but this is not terribly clear. |

| #3asmodeusloreOct 04, 2010 7:41:48 | I've linked to this thread as the official discussion thread for this article. But please remember, when creating the article discussion thread, try to follow the standard format that we've established. Dragon 392 Winning Races: Haflings, Overwhelming Passion by Derek Guder Halflings are no less susceptible to dark urges than any human, dwarf, or elf—the rotten ones just sport a wider smile while they lie. Talk about this Article here. ![]() |

It does rather seem that the author/editor of this article couldn't decide whether these feats should be essentials style, or traditional 4E-style. On one hand the feats are accompanied but some brief fluff ala HotFL, but on the other hand they're listed as Heroic-tier feats, and aren't given categories. |

| #6satanicshadowOct 29, 2010 0:40:04 | Any insight on why they took Cursed Luck and Consuming Fervor out of the compiled version? seems like this has been a trend lately, with the decline of crunch in the magazines they're also just straight chucking out crunch like the Mystery of karsus and this one now. I honestly found Cursed Luck pretty fair, and Consuming Fervor was neat, and i would still like some insight on why they took them out. |

I honestly found Cursed Luck pretty fair, and Consuming Fervor was neat, and i would still like some insight on why they took them out. The trend has been to kill off stuff that was broken and looked like it couldn't be fixed in a quick an easy way. The Mystery of Karsus one was deleted because it was too good, but some dwarf feats also disappeared due to being worthless, or overlapping too much with existing feats. In the case of the halfling feats, it's probably a low power issue: Cursed luck was hideously situational (second chance AND attack that killed you AND having the reroll hit you), and didn't even do that much when it triggered. I doubt it could have been rewritten into playability while looking anything like the original. Consuming Fervor is more of a mystery... I think it's mediocre, but not worse than, say Bloodied Vengeance from the same article. |
