| #1CinnibarJan 05, 2009 10:06:08 | Ok, we're due this month for our SECOND Warforged article. Great. Where are the articles for the Core races? Like, I dunno, a Humans article? Elves? Dwarves? Halflings? Sure, I understand that some people think Warforged, Genasi, and Dragonborn are all neat and cool and whatever... but the core races need some luvin' too... otherwise the powercreep will eventually result in Humans and Elves becoming a dying breed. |
| #2fiendish_dire_weaselJan 05, 2009 19:31:40 | Dragonborn needed an article to flesh them out I think, so I feel that was a good call as an early article. Gensai have more than enough support and don't need another at the moment in my opinon. And while a second Warforged article is Ok, I would have rather seen another Monster Manual race fleshed out (Kobolds!!!!) then a second article on one we've already seen. I definatley think there should be one racial article every month though, either fleshing out a PH race or filling out a MM race. Another article for gensai/warforged is kinda poopy though. |
| #3DMapleJan 12, 2009 9:15:04 | I wonder how much of this article will make it to the Eberron books or we are getting because it was cut from the books? |
| #4Talos_DragonJan 12, 2009 13:00:43 | I play LFR I Play a Shadar Kai (I got the card) Thanks to the card the Shadar kai is a legit character race and there is no support for the race (feats or background material) One the cards came out I thought yay!! Playable races I will be getting some extras in DRAGON - - - NOPE. I am not says I don't like the race articles but where is the love for the Gnome/Orc/Shadar Kai. THoes races that ARE playable |
| #5fiendish_dire_weaselJan 12, 2009 14:23:49 | I am not says I don't like the race articles but where is the love for the Gnome/Orc/Shadar Kai. THoes races that ARE playable Gnomes are in PH2, so we are unlikely to see an article about them. Half-Orcs too, so we may not see an Orc article for a while. |
| #6viktor_von_doomJan 12, 2009 14:32:08 | I will personally use a bowl disruptor set to the strongest setting on the person who even thinks about wasting time with a human article. |
| #7KentinalJan 12, 2009 15:49:06 | I will personally use a bowl disruptor set to the strongest setting on the person who even thinks about wasting time with a human article. But, but, but... D&D humans are not the same as RL humans. Amount of food needed to be eaten, amount of weight they can carry and so on. *wink* |
| #8CinnibarJan 12, 2009 16:30:27 | I will personally use a bowl disruptor set to the strongest setting on the person who even thinks about wasting time with a human article. Ok, I was mostly joking about that one. Mostly. Might work for an April article, though... (Heroic Feat : Fat. Gain +2hp/tier, but reduce speed by 1.) But I would love one on Dwarves. Specifically an article including a Beardliness Feat (Heroic Feat : gain +2 to all diplomacy checks against Dwarven races) .... ok, kidding about the feat... but how about a little Mountain Dwarf vs Hill Dwarf type article? FR Player's guide has Wild Elf and Wood Elf representations in specific Heroic Feats, subraces aren't out of the question. |
| #9ArtifactJan 12, 2009 19:11:05 | At first, I wasn't too excited to have another Warforged and Genasi article; too soon. From reading the ToC however, I get the impression this will be a more atypical approach to the two races. The Warforged will be presented as if they originated in Forgotten Realms. Likewise, the Genasi will be presented as if they originated in Eberron. "Origin Stories: The warforged have long been identified exclusively with Eberron and the genasi with the Realms, but what would happen if you crossed those streams?" Don't know what this means exactly; I keep imagining Kender, recast as if they originated in Dark Sun ;)-- what would that be like? If done right however, a "flip/flop" like this could breath new life into these races. |
| #10KentinalJan 12, 2009 19:21:41 | At first, I wasn't too excited to have another Warforged and Genasi article; too soon. Err they said that Eberron would not be changed and that FR would no longer experience RSE. *sighs* Oh they also said that wanted the worlds and core realm more easy for a character to fit in and move from one to the other. So your guess indeed might be correct that in a before unknown part of Eberron the Genasi will be discovered, as for FR there are always portals and not ever inch of the before was describe and clearly the new one barely mapped so placing warforge there is easy (though clearly might upset more FR fans depending on how they got there). |
| #11ArtifactJan 12, 2009 19:31:48 | Err they said that Eberron would not be changed and that FR would no longer experience RSE. *sighs* I don't get the feeling that this is gonna be an attempt to suddenly canonize Warforged into Eberron or Genasi into the Realms. It will prolly be something along the lines of the old comic book tag: "This is an imaginary story". In other words: "Just have fun with it; Bruce Wayne ain't really Superman." ;). |
| #12ValienJan 12, 2009 19:49:14 | I've been dying for an Elf article since i got my subscription. Really, how specific they can get before changing their attention to the more ''traditional'' races? C'mon, last month they had an article on ''Tiefling Inspiring Warlords who Multiclass in Infernal Warlocks and Wield Polearms''. They even had a Paragon Path for that. All that while, my Legolas wannabe-character cant wait for new ways to dish out some extra excruciation :D |
| #13fiendish_dire_weaselJan 12, 2009 21:44:01 | I've been dying for an Elf article since i got my subscription. You mean like all those Elf feats and the archery PP in Martial Power? |
| #14WolfStar76Jan 13, 2009 10:27:23 | Bruce Wayne ain't really Superman." ;). . . . Deliberate error, or not a comics fan? *scratches head* |
| #15shivafangJan 16, 2009 5:23:23 | Really, how specific they can get before changing their attention to the more ''traditional'' races? C'mon, last month they had an article on ''Tiefling Inspiring Warlords who Multiclass in Infernal Warlocks and Wield Polearms''. They even had a Paragon Path for that. It wasn't teifling specific. Sure the flavour was decidedly tiefling, but it wasn't required. I like unusual class combinations so I appreciated the Warlord/Warlock combination for a Paragon Path - I hope to see more. As for seeing more feats that are human-specific - why are people complaining that they don't want to see the 'time wasted'? Why should all the other races be fleshed out for bling bling new feats but not humans? I'll grant that I don't want to see an "ecology of the human" type article, but even a 2-pager with feats and human specific paragon paths (that half-elves can take too-btw). Of course, I don't read any of the 'fluff' of the article - I just go right to the feats and paragon paths. As for bow love - ooh one paragon path in martial power. There was nothing new for bows or ranged attacks (that wasn't ranger or elf specific of course). I guess I'll have to wait for the eberron book to flesh out my "Arcane Archer" Artificer. |

He, I always play human characters, no matter the edition, and I strongly support the idea of a racial article for humans. |
| #17tokallaJan 17, 2009 23:48:36 | I definately agree that the MM races need additional support. Though the content of the newest warforger/genasi articale doesn't seem to be the same sort of article (it does seem in the "what if" theme of comics to assist players in playing unuasual races for that specific campaign world). I wouldn't mind seeing core race support, but I feel that isn't as necessary as support for the MM races (if you choose any MM race you lack race focused class support via feats, and for all but Minotaurs and Gnolls you have no racial feat support at all atm). At the very least an exotic race article for some of the supplements (like MP, which has a beastmaster ranger racial feat for all core races except for half-elves) would go a long way to keep those of us wanting more non traditional races happy. If nothing else, I'll settle for a kobold article within the next 3-6 months (I've been waiting since release for kobolds to get an article). . . . likely neither ![]() "The first was a dimension-travel story where Batman visited a world in which Superman is secretly Bruce Wayne, and the crime-fighting partner of Robin; crime photographer Vicki Vale is a perfect look-alike for Lois Lane; there is no Batwoman; James Gordon is editor of The Daily Planet; the Man of Steel suffers from a weakness to Thilium rather than to Kryptonite; and Freddy Forbes was a television comedian who looked exactly like the Joker. In the story, Batman helps Superman capture Red Raven and his gang. Designated as Earth-136 by John Wells. World's Finest #136, "The Batman Nobody Remembered," review by Steve Chung. " ![]() The second was an Imaginary Story in which Kal-El's rocketship crashes near Gotham, is found by a young James Gordon, who hands the baby over to the Waynes to raise (who have no children of their own). The Waynes are not killed, so Bruce grows up to be Superman. Bruce marries Barbara Gordon who has convinced him to give up crimefighting to work as a scientist. While he's working on curing the common cold, the Gotham underworld starts a crime wave and in the midst of it, Commissioner Gordon is killed. Superman tries to go back in time to save his father-in-law but, alas, according to pre-Crisis time travel rules, one can't appear twice in the same time, so all he can do is helplessly watch the murder as a ghost. Barbara, realizing that with Superman gone, Gotham does need a protector, and Barbara decides that she will be that protector - "This is a job," she tearfully tells Bruce, "for Batwoman!" She manages to capture the criminal who killed Gordon and decides to continue as Batwoman. Designated as Earth-353 by John Wells. Superman 353, "The Secret Origin of Bruce (Superman) Wayne" Superman 358, "A Day in the Life of Bruce (Superman) Wayne" Superman 363, "A Night in the Life of Bruce (Superman) Wayne" Source for text quotes: http://blaklion.best.vwh.net/superbatman.html |

| #19bonemonkeyJan 18, 2009 9:11:50 | I play LFR What do you mean card can you elaborate on this race i never heard of shadar Kai? Are they in a dungeon or dragon article ? |
| #20MirtekJan 18, 2009 14:34:45 | What do you mean card can you elaborate on this race i never heard of shadar Kai? They're a race introduced in 3.x (or maybe already in 3.0) and are in the MM. There's no dungeon or dragon article about them and thus they're not an open race for anybody in LFR. However at GenCon last year you could get a special LFR reward card that allows you to playe one in LFR. Without the card you can't have a shadar-kai in LFR. PS: Other special "GenCon race access cards" include one for playing an orc and one for playing a gnome |
| #21CailteJan 20, 2009 9:02:30 | At this time the thing seems to be if we want the PHB1 Material to be fleshed out someone outside WotC is going to have to write it. I know I'm just not coming up with ideas atm for such articles to even make a submission. |
