Dragon 396 Table of Contents
Dungeon 187 Table of Contents

We've got a Dark Sun heavy month, it looks like, with a Dark Sun adventure, more Athasian monsters, Genasi of Athas, and an Eye on Dark Sun article (which may or may not be the one intended for last month).

We've also got an 'adventure locale' which sounds like what the editorial was talking about in terms of more variety of adventures - possibly some sort of small sandbox environment rather than a linear adventure. Looks like it involves Magroth - wasn't he the ancient Nerathi emperor who became a bad guy?

I like the look of most of the articles listed. I remain concerned, admittedly, about the number of them. We've got basically 6 'content' articles in each. Even January (itself light on content) had 3-4 more articles than that.

Looking back, while 5-6 articles in Dungeon is often the norm, looking back through Dragon we have pretty much never seen less than 8-10 content articles each month. And when we get back to close to a year ago (when we shifted to more articles of shorter length), we start seeing issues with 12-17 articles in them. Prior to that, we were back in the 8-10 range... but usually with much larger articles than we see today.

Anyway, all I'm saying is, if we're only getting 6 articles in Dragon, I really hope they are of substantial length. I'm perfectly fine with not having 20 tiny articles, but I think that finding a good mix would be the best answer. And I hope that the reduced content in the magazines is a short-term decision due to budget issues, and will eventually return to the prior levels of output.

Yeah, I already asked if the new EoDS was a new one, or just rescheduled.  Guess what?  No answer!

Well yeah, but I don't expect them to answer questions at the drop of a hat - you only asked an hour ago. I suspect we'll know when this week's Eye on Dark Sun is posted. I'd give even odds to them having one for January and for February, since Eye of Dark Sun is a pretty regular feature (if not as regular as Eye on the Realms).

You mean the one that was said to be going up yesterday?

So 19 total articles, one of which I suspect was from last month.

No wonder they went away with the compile issues, don't want people to realize your mag has very little content.

You can't even call them magazines any more.  More like article collections, paid blog content or e-zines.  Magazines have a cover, and are all in one compiled location.

the 'crunch' looks to be the trick the dark sun article is doing, being in two issues at once

sigh, looks like only one adventure for the entire month, no surprise its heroic

i guess im tired of complaining. at least feb is short

Well Eldaarich is listed in the article as 186, but is linked in the contents to 187, though the 187 blurb seems to refer to a different article about a spear artifact...

I'm guessing, it's 186, they're planning on another for 187, but have mislinked the 186 one as 187 by mistake...

Anyway 19 articles, including the 6 columns (Editorials, Ampersand, Confessions, Save my game, and Alumni) and the adveture hooks which I'm guessing won't see daylight (given it's a week and a bit late already, and only has one adventure to provide hooks for.) Leaves another lean month, that they are already way behind on. A third of the way through the month and only 4 articles up and three of those are the "easy" ones.

The Ampersand is up already as well.

I counted that (as one of the easy ones). Pretty sure the EODS published is the delayed 186 article. It says 186 in the article, doesn't match the blurb in the 187 contents. So the only stuff they've put out this month (actually from this months contents) are two editorials, ampersand (essentially an advert), and the last legion.

Yep.

You can add the detail that, of those, only one ("The Last Legion") is paid content, with possibly two others, according to the Week Release.

Considering that they chronically dont release anything on Mondays, thats it for half the month.
