| #1The_JesterAug 18, 2008 3:35:11 | Does anyone know of a non-WotC employee article in Dragon yet? Does anyone know of someone working on one for a future issue? I get why WotC wants to keep Dragon and Dungeon in-house opposed to being written by Paizo. And I like the playtest articles and new powers, rituals, items and the like. But I worry that with all the professional WotC writers working on the magazines there won't be much room for amateurs and new talent. If the editor has to choose between an article written by some top talent or some schlub who's never been published before, they're likely going to publish the work by the guy who works in the same building. If they have to choose between some content that was cut from a newly released book or some random piece from an outsider which are they really going to choose? Alot of people made their start with the magazines. But they weren't competing with the people who designed the game... |

We’re using in-house design and development resources to make sure every article is worthy of being an official part of D&D and we feel really good about the quality of the product that we’re publishing. ...mean if they allow submissions? |

| #4The_JesterAug 19, 2008 2:48:07 | What does.... Because if you go to the main page and scroll to the bottom right you see this text: Want to write for Dragon or Dungeon magazines? And this link: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/submissions So I was wondering which statement was a mistruth, the 100% R&D driven or the call for submissions. I, like many DMs, would love to write something for Dragon or Dungeon but I'm not going to bother if I'm competing with everyone else for the one free article slot every six months. |

They're definitely looking for material. They're definitely focusing on 4ed. But there's a lot of competition, and they're leaning on their tried and true freelancers during these early months of 4ed. If you've got a solid idea submit it. Be patient. And submit more as they come to you. This also goes for those interested in writing fiction, working on catrography, and providing artwork. |
