| #1nixyAug 29, 2009 18:45:42 | I've been reading about Dragon Magazine Annual, and apparently there are some noticable rule changes (Punisher of the Gods got nerfed, and Reaper's Touch is shadar-kai only). Are there any plans to update the Dragon magazine articles for D&DI subscribers to reflect these changes? |

The Dragon Magazine articles in compiled issues will not be updated after compilation ever. The Dragon Annual will more than likely be in the character builder and compendium so you will have access to the most recent rules errata. |
| #3nixyAug 29, 2009 21:05:41 | Ok. In that case, will they ever at least publish a notification somewhere so we don't have to just stumble on errata? |
| #4ABorthwickAug 31, 2009 3:48:21 | While I always appreciate errata, this is a pretty backwards way to go about it. Some kind of official update would be nice rather than, as you said, "sumbling across it..." While I do use an up to date character builder, it shouldnt be the end all of rules updates. |
| #5CailteAug 31, 2009 7:32:03 | Heck until it is error free the CB is not what should be the final "MRP" of anything. And yes it would be nice if official erratta (or updates :rolleyes |

The PotG errata is fine (it's still awesome), but the Reaper's Touch one is really bad, because it will simply ruin some nice builds. Which already might have been played for a time. It's not that they become a bit less good, they are simply unplayble. And for no good reason too, because IMO it wasn't even overpowered. But what really irritates me about this, is that it was already mentioned in the original errata thread, that it wasn't restricted to shadar-kai only, and they didn't change it in the final version of the dragon issue (although there was more than enough time to do so). But now after a few months it is changed. Now, I don't play a character with this feat, but what irritates me that such dramatic change are made after quite a time. So what take a other feat, power, ... etc. from a dragon article. I wait until the final version is out. Ok, still there. I build my char around it. And bamm, after 10 months the annual comes out, and it's gone. IMO this lack of reliability would be really a shame. And a pity, because otherwise I'm really a big fan of D&DI. But let's wait, if the changes appear in the CB & Comp., or an official errata is issued. Because before that, you can't say for sure what is fact. |

| #8MirtekAug 31, 2009 17:50:19 | The PotG errata is fine (it's still awesome), Especially now that the update has been pushed back on the 8th |

If I recall correctly, the change is that Immortal Curse is now effectively "once per round, when you hit your Immortal Curse enemy, you can use an at-will attack power against that enemy as a free action". I could be wrong though. |
| #10CaericSep 04, 2009 18:50:03 | I must protest the alteration of Reaper's Touch. I was gonna make a wizard who fought using "force gauntlets." He wasn't going to be a shadar-kai. I can't imagine any legitimate reasons that this has been altered. Excuses come to mind: - It's called "Reaper's Touch," the name is inappropriate if it's just melee basics for anyone - It's in the "Playing Shadar-kai" article. It looks silly that such a general feat is in there - There is the Power of Skill feat in Complete Divine for Invokers to get melee basics, and there is the Eldritch Strike at-will for those warlocks that want one. Wizards and Sorcerers will get melee basics later I really hope that this isn't true, that Reaper's Touch is shadar-kai only. It was a neat feat for anyone, and I don't see anything overpowered or unbalanced about it. |

Ok, one borderline broken build. But still nothing compared with permalocks and near infinite damage builds IMO, which didn't get an errata.
Especially since the non reapers touch feycharger has 393 dpr, so it wouldn't change much for this build.
Therefore I can't see that this is a legitimate reason. |
| #13aliothefoolSep 05, 2009 21:17:50 | I'm really angry about the Reaper's Touch change. I've been playing my Eladrin Wizard with it for quite some time now. I never read the article, I just grabbed the feat because I read the description text in the Character Builder. Now next month the CB is going to tell me my character is houseruled because WotC decided to change this feat? BS. |
| #14nixySep 06, 2009 9:56:14 | permalocks What simple thing can be changed to errata save stacking, though? Just saying "saving throw penalties don't stack" creates an unprecedented exception to the rule "penalties not from the same power always stack" and makes all of those -1's useless. Any change to e.g. Orb of Imposition (which isn't even necessary for savelocking anymore) would be a lot less clear-cut than "Reaper's Touch, which debuted in the Shadar-Kai article in a list of Shadar-Kai-only feats, was always intended to be Shadar-Kai-only". near infinite damage builds Divine Miracle is still extremely powerful, but it is operationally limited by the need to expend all of your encounter powers first (and not being possible until level 30). The other major single-character method of generating near-infinite damage was Punisher of the Gods, and as you'll note it was nerfed in DMA as well. |

A player in my game was also blindsided by this change, and I'm not pleased. If it needed errata, it should have occurred the month that the article was published, not many months after the fact. |
| #16thecasualoblivionSep 10, 2009 19:26:18 | Gotta echo in on the whole Reaper's Touch thing as being a crappy change. I like having a melee attack as a ranged caster, and spending a feat to have an at-will power become melee is more interesting than taking Melee Training and hitting things with a stick. More castery.
Please take this back. Pleeeeeease. |
