Dragon Magazine on the Nook

Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a Nook for all the novel reading I do, but one of the extra benefits I was looking forward to was its PDF support for reading Dragon Magazine on the go.  It's a little difficult to bring an entire desktop computer with me on my carpool just to read an online magazine, but if I can get it onto my Nook then I can enjoy some quality D&D during those mindnumbing rides to work.

Only problem is, the Nook won't open the files.  It will display "normal" PDF files fine, but refuses to even open issues of Dragon.  My guess is this is due to the magazine not being a normal portrait format/size of page, and instead a kind of landscape to make it fill a desktop computer screen.

Has anyone found a workaround for this or might be able to offer any tips?  The closest thing I've found on my own is top copy the text from an article, paste into Word, reformat it all, export as PDF, and then import it onto the Nook for viewing.  And that's an awful lot of work.

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I've never heard of the "nook". Perhaps if you explained it more ppl could help. Is it a smart-phone, symbian, android, apple, windows? Is it an e-book reader? Your best bet is to use the Adobe reader, does Adobe support the Nook?

The Nook is Barnes & Noble's eBook reader.  Their version of Amazon's Kindle.

I have nook, and I have had no problems opening Dragon and Dungeon pdf articles on it.  In fact, I just finished reading the recent Kalashtar article on it earlier today.  The only difference I can think of is if the fully compiled issues are formatted differently from the indivicual articles?  I never download the full issue, opting instead to download specific articles that I am most interested in and will have future use for.

One thing to note though, because, as you mentioned, these mags are in landscape format, nook does have the occasional hiccup when formatting the articles for its screen.  It's generally pretty impressive in how it recognizes where one column on the page ends and the next begins, but every now and then a couple paragraphs will show up out of order due to a randomly placed image or something.

Awesome -- the individual articles load fine.  It's just the complete monthly magazines that won't work.  Weird...

I recently read the last dragon PDF on my new Nook color. You have to swipe to turn the pages, not tap, for some reason, on PDFs....

Thanks.  I am considering the Nook Color, and whether I can read to DDi complete issues
is playing a larger part in my decision than perhgaps it should....
