Dragon/Dungeon printed subscription?

Jul 21, 2008 15:32:47 I hope this isn't a question that has been asked a million times. I tried to find an answer and couldn't. The WotC website has a horrible, horrible user interface.

Anyway, is there any option to subscribe to Dragon & Dungeon magazines in a printed copy like most other magazines? I don't want to sit in front of my computer to read that content! If there is an option, could someone kindly point me in that direction?

Jul 21, 2008 15:41:46 Unfortunately for you, Dragon and Dungeon are no longer being offered in dead-tree format, only online.

For the moment, they are free. However, after DDi goes live (and the length of time between going live and no longer free is unknown), you will be required to pay for access to DDi.

That being said, WotC has confirmed that a subscription to DDi will not be required if all you want is DUngeon and Dragon. Individual .pdfs will be available for the magazines.

Try Dragonroots or Kobold Quarterly, although neither is 4th edition.

Yes the announced plans does currently include individual sales to non Insiders.

As for as killing trees goes, you would not need to print everything in the ezine which can save a few of them. *wink*

I really miss the magazines

As do I.

I'd love to see them compile several issues into trade paperback form. They could release it quarterly, sorta like they do with comic book trade paperbacks. Maybe they could offer a subscription to this format.

Dragon was a print mag for 30+ years, it would be nice to preserve that aspect in some form or another (even if an outright newstand magazine is out of the question). In my mind, online content is way too ephemeral in comparison to print. Question: How exactly does one "archive" online material for posterity? In other words, how are we going to look back in 30 years and see what Dragon was during this time?
