Im not going to sign up for the D&Dinsider until the content is done and ready that I feel is worth while. Im looking for the character visualilzer and mainly the D&D table. Dragon magazine is the onyl thing i miss
That being said, I heard you can view the druid play test 3 levels without having a D&Di account? is that true? what is the link if so, thanks!
The druid was free to nonsubscribers for a short time due to an error on WotC's part, but I do not believe it is available any more.
Seems silly that they are charging when their service has not even completed the major reasons to have D&Di. The only thing I see of value is Dragon Magazine.
Dont suppose anyone made a copy of the druid page before it was made private? if not, is it legal for insiders to give us lowly "crappy" customers the gist of how the class works? (by gist i mean some specifics heh)

I can't give out rules specifics (at least not the text of the rules) but in general:
It's a primal controller, with at-will shapeshifting. It has leader-like Hit Points and surges. The shapeshifting has no mechanical effect except that it provides you access to powers that can only be used while in your shapeshifted form. Otherwise, you can look like any critter you want, but you're still you.
The powers are, IMO, an interesting take on "controller" and not particularly similar to the wizard - lots of pushes, triggered pushes, making enemies affect each other, and so forth.
It has one healing power (at least of the levels previewed), some features that provide incentive to wear light armor, and...implement proficiency with staffs and one other thing the name of which eludes me - fetish or totem or something).
Overall, it didn't light me on fire like the Barbarian or Bard did, but it's an interesting class.
All it does now is charge from 5-10 dollars a month (depending on your commitment) for the magazine subscriptions and the use of the compendium, which includes most rules material from all published books, adventures, and even RPGA adventures, including monsters, feats, powers, items, etc.
Note that the current DDi does not attempt to charge you for the character builder, the game table, or the character visualizer.

Are you saying that when the character builder, game table, and visualizer are complete that they are going to hike up the price per month further for a D&Di account or that they will allow varying levels of access per D&Di account (basic, superior, etc..)
I hope they dont do that, Im not willing to pay more then 5-10 (tops even 10 is getting high thats $120 a year), but right now I do plan to become an insider once the game table and visualizer are completed. I just wont pay for something that is not finished.
Remember, however, that you are getting the rules from every single book, and the fact that the Compendium is searchable and online is an additional value (I've found it to be very useful, personally). I'm actually not buying the books anymore, because the compendium replaces it.
Of course, I'm not yet footing the bill (it was an early Christmas Present), so I'm not the best judge of price. However, I was planning on buying it sometime in January if I didn't get a subscription for Christmas, and I don't believe I would've regretted it.

I took out a one-year subscription (albeit having cancelled the "auto-renew" as I hate the idea of anyone taking money from me without my express permission), so hopefully the full tools will become available before the year's subscription is finished so I can try them out for a bit, before having to pay the full rate.
I feel I currently get good value for money though. However I also hope the full tools won't take a long as the 8-month or so (currently) delay with the character builder. I do hope they're developing the dungeon-builder & game-table as I type this, so that each application doesn't take 8-months each to be released after the char.builder is finalised.
