I found fantasygrounds to be an excellent table so scrapped that, and my character builder wrapped up just as the beta from wizards came out, and while I like mine a lot, the character builder has someone else doing data entry for me (wizards) and so I will probably stick with that. However that leaves the rest of my tool kit which I am expanding on now to make my life easier. I use it for creating my modules. I use Campaign Cartographer 3 to map my adventures, and needed something quick and easy so that I didnt' really have to pop open my book to look at charts. In the end what I've settled on is a set of encounter linkers which allow you to design encounters by selecting monsters and dropping them in, providing flavor text and choosing treasure from the treasure parcels given in the DMG and using items provided in the PHB and Adventure Vault as well as other sources. It prints everything out via html. With the ability to create custom monsters I now can basically shelve my books as my printouts include stat blocks, full treasure lists, pretty much everything a module would include for me. I will be making this available as a free download from my website (dnd.chrisnye.net) soon after I finish some code and data entry. I'm hoping for a month or two. I cannot include full datasets though for legal purposes. You can add what you'd like, however with built in editors. HOWEVER I'd like to open it up to the general public for what they think would make this tool even better as a utility for you all at large? Again I am happy with wizards' character builder. It is a pretty decent tool. This is a dm workshop that allows you to create modules without having to dredge a ton of books out once you have a dataset you are happy with. |
