Dungeon 160
The Tomb of the Sand King's Daughter

by Ari Marmell

The Tomb of Urum-Shar is the lair of a powerful brown dragon, with a hoard almost unmatched in myth and legend. Heroes who enter the "Tomb of the Sand King's Daughter" may face the potent Urum-Shar herself.

Talk about this article here.

Reading through it (not in detail) this is one of my favourite adventures published thus far. Seems to have a nice mix of trap based and monster based encounters. I especially like the circle of death room and the library. Nice encounters. Good to see another epic level adventure as well.

The adventure does look like fun, and the Book Storm monster made me smile. Killing epic characters with paper cuts just sounds fun

Just coming in to complain about room 12. Our party just went in there. Way, way, way, too strong.

The whole daze and knock prone whole thing, fine.
But with a plus 32 to hit? No.
What was the designer thinking? A Soul Gem, a level lower, also a solo blaster, has a +29 to hit a fortitude. Maybe the +3 difference can be explained by a level, but not the gaining of 2 more attacks (and two more initiatives). This is more than our final boss of the dungeon has. And much more boring.

The entire party basic spends their time doing nothing but getting up. All the time. It's not dangerous to epic level party, but it's tedious as hell.

The game is not fun when it is tedious.

EDIT: Perhaps this belongs under errata instead?
