Dungeon 173
The Lost Library: A Chaos Scar Adventure

by Peter Lee

A tribe of kobolds has unearthed an arcane library predating the Chaos Scar. That can't be good.

Talk about this Adventure here.

Completely unrelated to the contents of the actual article... Is it just me, or are those shoulder plates stupidly large in that image?  Why would you ever wear them in an actual battle?  You can't turn your head, you lose a lot of peripheral vision, and I have to think they are pretty heavy.

Dragonborn pictures (alteast the ones in the PHB) do have some pretty large shoulder armour. Atleast in the PHB though, they actually look like they moved with the wearer, while this guy's just kinda stick up awkwardly.

Arguably, they're not as stupid as those fake wings every single picture of a deva wears.

Any idea if the map is going to be updated to include this?
Or if there's any idea of scale for the map?

Or, possibly if we're going to get untagged maps?

I'm probably going to start running a Chaos Scar campaign this week and it'd be nice to get such obvious issues out of my way before the players get their teeth in .

I will be running this soon. My players are third/fourth level right now so a bit of adaptation will occur.
I'm toying with changing the kobolds to goblins the brown wyrmling to iron or blue wyrmling.

I'm thinking there could be a great link from the "Eyes in the Forest" quick encounter to the "Lost Library."

I'm experimenting with middle eastern flavored hobgoblins and changing the dragonborn to hobgoblin dervish style NPC's.

Does anybody have experience with the scaling of the encounters in this adventure? I notice a common theme throughout the chaos scar so far is weak encounters. I'm wondering if I should turn it up a notch as well as scale up the monsters.

edit 1: I also discovered that only Hesskin and Gravash  the dragonborn NPC's are in the monster builder.

There are no entries for Krunk One-Ear, Minnock and Nibbik. I suspect they are stock but you know...

This is listed as 1F however the opening says an adventure for 5 2nd Level characters.  Which is correct?

Also, what dungeon tiles are used for the maps.  Would be great if that was included in all the Chaos Scar adventures
