Duplex and PDF Printing are Broken

Nov 11, 2008 1:27:10 When I tried to print in duplex on my printer, the printer happily reversed the pages, but printed the back of each one blank. I ended up with the same stack of pages I got when printing in non-duplex mode.

When I tried to use PDFCreator to create a PDF, it instead tried to create a PDF for each page.

It looks like the program is printing each page as an individual print job instead of as multiple pages with one print job, and this breaks duplex printing and pdf creation, at least for me.

Has anyone else run into the same problem?

Printing causes each page to be send as a seperate single page document so automatic duplex printing is impossible.

this also causes programs that produce pdf copies to present a seperate pdf file for each individual page.

Nov 11, 2008 8:42:49 Same here. I just saved 4 pages for each PDF and dragged them together in Preview after copying them from the VM to the Mac.

So, it's an added step that would be nice to have fixed (or just have a built-in print-to-pdf option :P). But there are workarounds.

Nov 11, 2008 10:12:08 Confirmed. I thought it was a little weird when I used PDF reDirect and it presented me with three PDF pages in the preview. But then it merged them for me so I didn't think anything of it at the time.

Until Wizards fixes this issue there are several free PDF creators/programs that will merge PDF documents. And if you have the full version of Acrobat you can merge PDFs too Then you can print the merged PDF as duplex.
