| #1kagehiJan 05, 2010 20:16:21 | This was asked about before, ages ago, when the whole Pazio/Pathfinder fiasco was going on, but I still wonder about it. I have **boxes** of old issues I wouldn't mind getting rid of, *if* I had some way to get a complete set of the original series, starting at #1, on DVD. And, I mean original, not compendiumed into 4.0 updates to it. At bare minimum, it would save a lot of space to have one or two DVDs, instead of 4 boxes of heavy magazines. But, there are some I lost over the years, others I badly wish I could have seen, etc. And, the new set of tools, which I only just discovered existed today, isn't the same at all. This is all the more frustrating for me, in some ways, because I found at least two people "selling" PDFed versions of all of them, in precisely this format. But, I a) don't have a reason to trust them, b) can't be sure what the quality is, or c) whether or not I would be wasting my money. Seems odd that third parties can manage to do this, but Wizards isn't. ![]() |

They want you to go over to 4th, and have little incentive to keep anyone in an edition they no longer support. That's like MS no more supporting windows 95/98 - It's just the old edition, something they don't want you to use anymore. Usually companies don't give a damn about non-adopters, and while I agree that WOTC is very fast at it, you should look at most other companies - they do exactly the same. |

You might be able to find it second hand or via Ebay or one of the reselling sites like Noble Knight or Troll & Toad. Otherwise the only legal sales of anything digital from Dragon or Dungeon are the PDFs from Paizo, which are unfortunately often incomplete even where the PDF is available due to licensing issues with some articles. They only start from when Paizo was created to handle the magazines so there's a couple of years gap from the end of the CD release to their first PDFs, and thanks to WotC's handling of the contract the last year or so of both magazines also isn't available. |

Kind of like finding you couldn't find an old copy of the Illiad, in greek, or even a good translation, because the only copy anyone was willing to sell is the "upgrade", i.e. a script written based on it, for a TV mini series. If its tied of in just plain red tape and disinterest, then is just as bloody stupid, but at least not intentionally jerkish. Gah.. Only problem being, I would have to ebay half the *real* issues I have to afford a copy of the damn CD, where its actually sold. Imho, they really need to find some way they can "agree" to do this, even if its as two DVDs, one with the originals, and one "updated" to 4E. |

Well, there are a lot of books which you actually can't get good translations of. Or get a hold of them in any which way. That's the way business these days goes - if it is not sold in large enough numbers, or an outdated version, it will no be reproduced anymore. |
