| #1knux911Oct 31, 2011 21:24:48 | Trying not to spoil anything. We have gotten to a point in the campaign where an important figure in the war has been killed in the line of duty. That was all that was given to the DM but he felt this didn't treat this NPC right. So he created a whole mini adventure where the only condition was we needed to be dwarves. It was called "Restoring the Chain" and it was really good. All because he didn't feel this NPC got a fitting ending. Making something up from scratch was pretty good, I feel. Has anyone else embelished the story to add flavour? |
| #2rachwededNov 02, 2011 13:31:21 | someone the players were meant to rescue was not in fact rescued. later in the adventure path he was meant to do a few things, but they'd already met a half orc named Rage who they'd befriended by random chance so he started filling in for this npc. later a player decided they did not like playing a paladin and retired the character so this person filled in when Rage was not appropriate. also means if a random npc has to die, i have two to kill off and both matter to the pc's, or at least the players, as some pc's have died. otherwise i change skill challenges and quite a lot of fights to make them more interesting. |

Cool! So you were able to keep the campaign going along, despite the NPCs being changed. Nice. |

My group likes more combat too. I'm still learning as a DM. It's a challenge to make skill-challenges more interesting and realistic. |
