| #2mdonaisMay 24, 2009 2:34:47 | Yes, just change your skill on the character sheet. |
| #3theycallmetomurebornMay 24, 2009 11:44:06 | I'm sure this sounds like a stupid question, but I think the operative thing here is the question of "How?" I can't directly edit anything on my character sheet near as I can tell except by using the functions in the builder. Since I tend to use a lot of house rules that give +'s and -'s to any number of stats, this is fairly tiresome. Namely, I can't really select or edit anything on my actual character sheet near as I can tell, at least using the character sheet viewer. Is there some other tool or something that I'm missing? Did I skip some tutorial somewhere? If there's somewhere I can just add various modifiers that automatically go into equations that the builder uses, that would be excellent. |
| #4AstromathMay 24, 2009 12:09:10 | You don't do it on the sheet itself. Go to the Build tab. Go to Skills. Click on little yellow house beside the title "Skill Trainging Choices". Modify to your heart's content. |
| #5runewindMay 24, 2009 12:20:04 | The only option I get if I do that is "show illegal elements" I don't get any option for actually modifying the skills. |
| #6theycallmetomurebornMay 24, 2009 12:26:54 | What he said. We're not trying to just add in new trained skills, but rather to apply racial or generic modifiers to skills (and other stats) that come from custom rules (or perhaps third party material). I find it troublesome that it's possible to add custom races, and then no way to adjust one's character sheet to apply the benefits of said custom race (ability scores can be fudged a bit easier though, and you can create racial powers easily enough). |
| #7jhanzurMay 24, 2009 13:20:54 | highlight the total on the character sheet, and change it to what the total would be after modifiers. It should add the modifier to the Misc spot. |
| #8theycallmetomurebornMay 24, 2009 17:58:32 | Thanks, that helps a lot. Still trying to figure out if there's a way to adjust attack/damage rolls directly, or to apply a universal modifier to attacks and damage-things like that-but this definitely helps with some of the small stuff. |
| #9jhanzurMay 26, 2009 5:33:24 | Those seem to be the only values that cannot be editted |
| #10theycallmetomurebornMay 26, 2009 9:20:33 | Indeed. Ideally, one of these days, an update will allow for editing of such values directly. One alternative might be to allow custom feats to have some programming aspects-so that you can specify that a feat grants an untyped or a feat bonus to certain specific things. That might be too complicated for them to design in though... hmmmm... Looks like the builder has a long way to go as far as customizability is concerned, but for core gaming it's got itself straight-except for the constant string of typos and some of the weird mechanics it uses on the sheet (has anyone else noticed that it handles Swordmage AC really oddly?) |
| #11mirionsJun 08, 2009 5:42:18 | Indeed. Ideally, one of these days, an update will allow for editing of such values directly. Looking for a similar function and specifically, the ability to create custom powers (using the same fields and options available to current powers). Things like Close Blast 5, 10, keyword fields, a fluff field and the like. And of course, the option to place that custom power into the selection (be it under Powers, or feats if its a custom feat) |
| #12mirionsJun 08, 2009 6:37:03 | I do see now where you can add powers (I added Power of Amaunator to my cleric, who is a cleric of Tiamat atm which doesn't have a CD encounter power, hence adding Power Amaunator) But the option to create a power, and place that power withing a class/feat encounter power/whatever (daily, at will, encounter) list would be nice. Having the Character Builder read and interpret the power or feat and apply its modifiers would be awesome too. |
| #13mdonaisJun 12, 2009 4:56:50 | When I want to give myself a custom power I go to the shopping screen and give myself a custom item then type out what it does inside that text box. A little strange but it is my work around until we have time to add more customization. It turns out that customization can take a lot of work to program. |
