Encounter Gen Program:

Wow....I would need like a calculator, pencil and paper to do this. All in all it might take an extra two minutes to do by hand. I think this is definitely worth paying for.

I mean come on...Is this what they think is worth $$$. I mean come on; WOTC make something worth paying for and people will pay for it with minimal complaints.

Good gods. I mean... I'm bitter dude. But I would NEVER say something like that after knowing what has happened to WotC recently.

Thats taking it a little too far.

Completely uncalled for, and downright disrespectful.

It's a neat tool. What are you complaining for? What, you're whining because you won't get free emags anymore? Gee, oversized feeling of entitlement much?

I suggest we give as little credence to the ongoing hysterical meltdown as possible..

I think the encounter generator is considered a small benny to add value to the dungeon/dragon "subscription".

On the plus side, it shows what can be done with web-based tools. Since there's no sane reason the character creator shouldn't be web-based, this is a good thing.

I'm sure I'm breaking CoC here, but I've taken to ignoring any value in anything this guy posts. I just get a little amusement out of his complaints and accusations. I've tried logic and reason, somehow he still feels like goading. It's people like him that give legitimate critics who push the software to a higher standard a bad name.

Hehe the irony of this post.

Couldn't you have spent just an extra few minutes writing this in a paper letter to wizards?

I've been flagging some of his worst posts for review by WotC, and even saw one of them removed shortly after being flagged.

As he's been quiet for a few hours, I'm personally expecting (hoping?) they've given him a cooling off period.

I have to say I agree with the guy. The program really just provides you with a list of what monsters are going to be in your encounter. Before I tried it I thought that it would provide a nice sheet to print out with all the important stats I would need about the monsters. Instead I get a list of monsters and experience point values. There isn't even an easy way to print it, you have to copy it, paste it in a word processor then print it from there. As far as web based apps go this ones about as useless as I've ever seen, and if that upsets WotC than maybe they should give us something a little better than this when they announce they're going to start charging for a subscription.
