Nice Guys - Not only did the errata totally nerf my favorite wizard power, Winged Horde - Now the character builder doesn't display it correctly (half the power is cut off).  How am I supposed to know how much less damage it really does?  When I change code, I at least run it once to make sure the change works..  Thanks in advance for fixing the problem (And churning out a patch before next month).

--Of course, if you would just let us edit the xml for the powers directly, then we wouldn't be so insistent that you fix problems like this right away (Cause we could just do it for you).

Problem confirmed.

As for you, sirrah, if you've read the errata then you know how much damage it now does.  Of course, then you'd have been able to read the reason for the change.

Int. vs. Will
1d6 psychic, 2d6 at 21, according to the compendium.

Which, just so you know, makes it "balanced", not "overpoweringly good" (and still functions under Enlarge Spell), and certainly not "totally nerfed."

Merely "competitive."

And, incidentally, trying to get people to do stuff by being a jerk about it only works if you own the company, and even then, you're not going to get the best results.  Just something to think about.

Hey, I pay for this service.  And I have a game tonight.  Since I don't get the ability to 'undo' the update, I expect the update to not break my character.  Since I play the game just using the character builder to compute my attacks, I rely upon it to give me the numbers I need.  It isn't a huge deal to compute on the fly, but it is annoying.  Besides, as a customer that has bought almost every book put out by wotc, I expect a certain level of quality control.

I'm under no obligation to be polite.  WOTC screwed up and they need to be held accountable and fix their error.  I don't think you would be so quick to defend them if their poor quality control had derailed a train, or blown up a shuttle... or poisoned a bunch of food.  So that is where I stand.  I hope the error is fixed soon.

Oh and lastly, I'm not interested in debating the power and the change in the rules update.  You should take that to a more appropriate part of the forum.

I think we understand each other, then.

Yes, I'd be much less likely to defend them if the error was actually of any importance, rather than a matter of convenience, and your likening it to a train wreck, a shuttle disaster or an outbreak of food poisoning has told me all I need to know.

While I realize this isn't the place to debate the nature of changes, if you reference them in terms of being "totally nerfed", don't be overly surprised if people then restate them in other terms.  No free shots, I'm afraid.

CB is only a part of the service DDI offers.  Your money also buys you access to the Compendium, where it took me an entire 30 seconds (max) to locate the write-up for Winged Horde.  Inconvenient, yes, but for one session, not the end of the world.

Moreover, whatever money you've paid and will pay - courtesy costs nothing.

I too hope the error is fixed soon, though.  At least we agree there.

He didn't suggest that the errata totally nerfed Winged Horde, he asked if it did.

The CB is only part of the service the DDI offers, but I'd imagine that with a great many subscribers, it's the only part of interest.

Actually, he's not asking anything, aside from a rhetorical "How am I supposed to know how much damage it does now?".  It's a rant: "Not ONLY did they totally nerf Winged Horde, but they've broken it in the CB as well." (Restated for clarity.)  The "Nice, Guys" would be a tip-off if there was any confusion.

And I agree completely, the CB is THE reason I pay my sub... but having access to the Compendium answered the "How am I supposed to know how much damage it does?!" query... and shows that having a secondary source is a Good Thing.

*shrugs*  I found his attitude distasteful, that's all.  As I said, courtesy costs nothing, and I have little time for people who think that basic politeness is something that should be "earned."

Hey all,

Apologies for any problems this bug caused.  The team knows about the issue and it should be addressed in the patch next month.  Hope you're enjoying the application! =)
