| #1festivusJul 24, 2008 9:22:28 | 1. The shield on the cover page says Heroic 1-10, but the second paragraph reads "The Haunting of Kincep Mansion" is a 4th-Edition Dungeons & Dragons adventure for five characters of 12th level. Is this a Heroic tier adventure really? 2. When printed, vertical lines show up that don't appear in onscreen. I don't have this problem with other adventures I have printed. 3. The graphics are all very "blocky" or pixelated, like they were blown up from much smaller versions. This includes the shield on page one, the circular shape over the page numbers, all of the interior maps and the header bar across every page. Is this a lo-res version and a hi-res version is coming? 4. Does a shield guardian (pg 68) really get +97 on initiative? I think it's supposed to be +9. I am sure there are more errors, I haven't read in great detail yet, those were the "low hanging fruit" of errors. |
| #2festivusJul 24, 2008 9:32:28 | Bah, I posted here because the Dungeon Adventure Discussion forum had a padlock on it. Fix that too while you are at it. |
| #3mudbunnyJul 24, 2008 9:33:24 | The padlock simply means that you can't start threads in the forum. You can reply to threads that have previously been started in the forum. |
| #4zombiegleemaxJul 24, 2008 11:54:00 | I can't download it again. Only seems to happen with Dungeon, not Dragon articles... once again the 'File is damaged and could not be repaired' message. |
| #5festivusJul 24, 2008 12:36:21 | The padlock simply means that you can't start threads in the forum. It doesn't say that in the forum legend... it says "forum is locked". It's a bit confusing. |
| #6WotC_YoungsJul 24, 2008 13:04:09 | I saw the shield error as soon as I posted the article last night. I'm just glad most of the rest of the department had already gone home, since the language coming over my cube wall was ... blue. Yeah, I'll go with blue. We fixed it (thanks, Chris) and I put the new file live a couple minutes ago. (And yes, we have ANOTHER Chris working on the magazines now--Chris Hanis, a most excellent graphic designer working on layouts.) I've made a note of the other issues. I'm not sure what's happening with the resolution issues. One of the things we've learned in the past two months is to commission maps at a much higher resolution than we have been (we usually commission at print resolution). That way we can blow maps up larger than normal without getting pixelated. I didn't think we enlarged anything too much this time, but I'll speak with my art director about it when she's back from Comicon. We'll fix things for the compilation. Oh, and I can't believe I found time to post on the boards. Yay me! :D Chris |
| #7mountcJul 24, 2008 13:26:59 | No offense Chris, but did you see this one and not think it was blown up too much? Note, I didn't change this at all. I took a screencap at the PDF native resolution and then cropped out everything that wasn't the map. |
| #8armorclass10Jul 24, 2008 14:15:40 | I haven't posted in months, I know you guys have your hands full at the moment but the work done on this adventure was a mess IMO. You should be wowing us, instead I think a lot of us are actually getting scared by the whole thing. |
| #9dmjboneJul 25, 2008 2:20:58 | Page "68" -Shield Guardian -Level 14 Soldier Initiative +97 ...Really? Overall image quality of this adventure (map wise) is really sub-par. Fine for free I guess...but you're trying to get us to pay for this at some point right? |
| #10magisterequitumJul 25, 2008 6:13:31 | The shield guardian's init is probably +7 (no dex + (.5*14). One other minor edit ... The leaping statue has a jump skill, shouldn't that be athletics? I know what is meant but you know what happens when people assume ... |
| #11mrbarnabasJul 25, 2008 15:46:25 | My standards aren't as exacting as others', apparently, but I have to say that this has been my favorite adventure since the new format began. It was the artwork that captured my attention from the beginning, causing me to download it. As I flipped from page to page, I was more impressed with the layout and the ideas alike. I can live with somebody changing a "7" to a "9" and forgetting to hit delete afterword...Considering the editing that is in everything from novels to game books to corporate training materials; regardless of the audience or purpose, errors like these creep in. If this is the worst problem we've got coming to us--and these things will be fixed for the compilation, to boot--then this is working out much better than I originally anticipated. Thanks! |
