| #1haferkaNov 05, 2010 8:37:39 | What is different about the new Weaponmaster preview from the existing Fighter? I dont have books in front of me.. but it looks like a "normal" fighter to me... wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/dramp... (bottom of page) |
| #2dbmeboyNov 05, 2010 8:48:30 | It is the same, I think. That's the book that's supposed to start combining old material and essentials stuff. |
| #3haferkaNov 05, 2010 9:01:46 | what an f$%$# rip off.. they cut back on the content for dragon.. and start re-selling the existing book material.. with no changes... I am officially burned out on dnd. Time to find a new game. ? ICONS superpowered roleplaying ? ? any suggestions ? |
| #4dbmeboyNov 05, 2010 11:38:05 | Calm down. Yes, there will be some reprinting, but the reprint will be presented in the new style (look at that, the classic 4e content can be presented in the essentials style without changing how it works) and include all the errata. For some people, it will be worth buying the book to have the errata. For new players, it will certainly be a useful book. If you don't need that book, you don't have to buy it. It's really not that big of an issue. |
| #5nightwalker450Nov 05, 2010 11:44:04 | It's mainly so people can buy a book that doesn't need to be double checked for Errata. It's basically PHB1 - Rules Compendium - Equipment + Some new powers/feats/etc.. So if you have PHB1, you really don't need it, unless you are getting tired of referencing errata (I'm not saying its good or bad.. but personally if I used the book constantly, I'd rather not). Also if you like the Essentials Presentation Style (I don't.. I think its painful to browse, which is all I use books for, which is why I have very few). So I don't think its a bad book necessarily, I think it is needed.. But I don't need it. The reprinting of the Shadowrun core book, though I will need if my group ever tires of 4e (we haven't played anything else since release, so I don't think that's happening soon). Because I don't have an online compendium/character builder to use, and I'm not going to want to look up errata/new rules all of the time. |
| #6frothsofNov 05, 2010 11:51:36 | on a related note i HATE looking at the old classes rewritten in essentials style, i much prefered lists of power choices at levels to this, it basically hurts my eyes and bores me to tears |

But many players have asked for something just like this, and it does provide a good stepping stone for new players coming via Essentials. If it ends up a flop, sucks for WotC, but getting upset - or quitting D&D - because WotC is publishing books that other people are interested in... that seems rather silly to me. |

| #9haferkaNov 05, 2010 12:56:58 | so.. it will be PH1-3 classes.. in the essentials format.. (with hybrid options).. |
| #10frothsofNov 05, 2010 13:00:41 | yeah it will just be phb 1. the others will get resold to us later |
