The spear's daily seems a little underpowered, particularly at higher levels; not massively so, but enough that I can't imagine players wanting to complete a quest just to get their hands on it. Actually to be honest, it's probably balanced; I suspect it just looks underpowered compared to the power creep I've come to expect from AV. I'd rather see underpowered stuff than game-breaking stuff, so I guess: more like this, please? |

While Deafened, you can't hear anything, and take a -10 penalty on Perception Checks. The spear's daily seems a little underpowered, particularly at higher levels; not massively so, but enough that I can't imagine players wanting to complete a quest just to get their hands on it. It's one of those items that falls into the category where a player won't necessarily be devoted to seeking out this item for raw power alone - but if you set them on the path and they end up with the item, they'll put it to perfectly good use. Which is the power level I'm also a fan of. And tends to work fine - if you have the party finding and acquiring stuff along these lines in their travels, they will make use of them. Occasionally they might trade down to a more overpowered item - but that will be somewhat compensated by the loss of value from selling a found item in order to buy a lower-level item. For most groups, I've found that the loss of the value provides enough incentive to stick with their 'nifty' but not overpowered found items, rather than disenchant them all so they can craft bland, lower-level, overpowered items. |

Haven't encountered it before so I'd not noticed. So I guess the bow is potentially of use to stealth builds, or players with stealthy allies. Might make a nice ranger/rogue combo. |
