I like the idea of this, but I really want to see more strength based stuff.

hmm, i wonder. what do you have to give up for virtuous touch?

this is missing in the excerpt... like that, i have no idea whether it is a good idea or not to use that class feature.

also: what is a divine sanction?

At first I just skipped down to the crunchy bits, and immediately feared an imminent ragewave on the forums because the virtuous paladin did nothing to address the divine challenge issues. But then I went back and read the earlier part that mentions the ardent paladin, which alleviates my concerns for now. =)

If you look at the new feats in DP I would think you give up lay on hands. As for the divine sanction, again if you look at the feats it looks like it will be an extension of the divine challenge.
My guess is that its a mark that doesn't deal damage triggered from your divine challenge.

So far I am looking forward to DP, my paladin can really use some of those feats and I am intrigued by domains. Here's hoping.

actually, looking at the preview again, it occured to me that you might be able to give up challenge for sanction (which should work differently) and lay on hands for ^the virtue's touch^.

reasoning:
But you might instead be an ardent paladin, one who sacrifices your own defense and even your health for greater offensive power. Or you are a virtuous paladin, a warrior of pure heart who can withstand the wiles and blights of your gods’ enemies. You might follow one of these paths exclusively, or you might forge a course of your own.

but i'll have to wait till after my summer vacation to see.
