| #1OreMar 06, 2009 6:49:45 | Exerpts Player's Handbook 2: Feats In today's Player's Handbook 2 preview, WOTC gave us a glimpse of some new feats. Talk amongst yourselves... |
| #2OreMar 06, 2009 6:52:08 | Personally, Thirst for Battle stood out to me as a highly useful feat. +3 to Initiative and 1 additional healing surge. Yeah, a lot of Half-Orcs are going to be loving that one. |
| #3jason_29_ohio_dupMar 06, 2009 9:32:21 | Distant Advantage — Gain combat advantage with ranged and area attacks against flanked enemies This I think needs a better explanation, or hopefully a graphic in the book. I want to read it that a monster who is flanked by two adjacent allies of the PC who has this feat is granted combat advantage against the target monster. [PC] [M ][ ][ ][ ][PC] [PC] However, some may say that if you are in a flanking line The PC on the right would be given combat advantage. [PC][M ][ ][ ][ ][ ][PC] I hope my first read of it is the right one. |
| #4BolongoMar 06, 2009 9:56:09 | I hope my first read of it is the right one. It should be. Otherwise it would have read something like "allows you to flank at range". |
| #5HaldrikMar 06, 2009 14:24:11 | PH2 Excerpt: Wait. Per optimization, isnt an attack bonus better than a damage bonus? So, this feat actually sucks? It makes the feat user actually worse off? |
| #6whitebaronMar 06, 2009 16:03:41 | Wait. Per optimization, isnt an attack bonus better than a damage bonus? So, this feat actually sucks? It makes the feat user actually worse off? yeah, well, have a look at power attack... |
| #7mysteryman23Mar 06, 2009 16:38:33 | Is it me, or are not all the feats mentioned in past previews of the PH2 in the table? Arcane Spellfury's missing, for example, and in fact I don't see any class-specific feats in there. Either the statement about the list featuring "all" heroic-tier feats is wrong, or the class previews are referencing nonexistent feats, which is not only quite stupid, but considering that the SRD mentions them, quite unlikely. I think we can expect the feats to either be in the PH2, or, if not, in a future release by Wizards (whether in another book, or in some article). Just wanted to point this out. |
| #8JohnLynchMar 06, 2009 16:55:54 | However, some may say that if you are in a flanking line The PC on the right would be given combat advantage. A 3rd possibility (which is the one I had) is you need: [PC][M ][PC][ ][ ][ ][PC] So: [PC] [M ][ ][ ][ ][PC] [PC] won't work. Wait. Per optimization, isnt an attack bonus better than a damage bonus? So, this feat actually sucks? It makes the feat user actually worse off? It could be like Power Attack so its optional (for example if someone has a really low Will and you're using Will-based attacks. You take the -2 to hit for +2 to damage). |
| #9CailteMar 06, 2009 18:38:54 | Or you have the ranged Flanking Feat to stack the 2, along with Implement Expertise.... not effect +1 above normal attack bonus and +2 extra damage... Yay for obvious Char Op... |

Arcane Spellfury's missing, for example, and in fact I don't see any class-specific feats in there. Based off of what I've seen on PHBII leaks, this is just the first table from the feats chapter. There are several other tables in the chapter, and I believe that each class has a table to itself. A slightly more correct way of putting it would have been all heroic non-class specific feats. |

Agreed. MysteryMan23, check this out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21677604@N00/3329611845/sizes/l/ It's Arcane Spell Fury! Before you congratulate me on my wondrous find, know that I stole it from this thread: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1158601 |
| #12Talos_DragonMar 06, 2009 23:12:17 | How are weapon and implement expertise going to work with the swordmage and the bard who uses sword for both weapon and implement? Do you need to take both? one for attacking with the sword and one for focusing your powers through it? |
| #13ranadielMar 07, 2009 5:53:53 | How are weapon and implement expertise going to work with the swordmage and the bard who uses sword for both weapon and implement? Weapon expertise works for powers that have the weapon keyword and implement expertise works for powers with the implement keyword. So yes you would need to take both. |
| #14mysteryman23Mar 07, 2009 16:56:09 | Agreed. Hmm...seperate tables for class-specific feats, huh? Interesting! Also, it appears that there are feats tied into the selectable class features (i.e. the Sorceror's Spell Source, the Shaman's Companion Spirit, etc.) I know they had them in the original Player's Handbook (with the Warlock's Pact Boons and all), but they really went out of their way to give each class one feat for each selectable class feature. Nice. I really want this book! Then again, considering most of it's probably gonna be in the Compendium anyways, I'd say the main reason would be for the new rules. As for "all the heroic tier feats", I would say that "all the non-class specific heroic tier feats" would be more accurate for the excerpt. |
