Alas that it isn't the Paragon Path you want... Its a pity they didn't just give it the Utility as a permenant Beast Form option at level 16. Its sad that a Windsoul Genasi is better at flying than a Skylord. |
| #4serphetMar 09, 2009 5:33:01 | its practically permenant 1/enc. You can see they were very carefully dancing around giving a fly speed with the powers, well written IMO. Windosoul can fly indeed, but windsoul cannot make any attacks along that flight. |

They say that the dragonborn paragon path in PHB2 grants at-will flight, but I have yet to see the specific text, so I don't know what limitations are imposed. |

| #8Kryptonian_ScionMar 09, 2009 14:11:43 | /devil's advocate That would be lame, considering how adamant the R&D team were about simplifying the game and removing, SPECIFICALLY, things such as touch attacks. Attacks vs. Reflex are, IMO, what touch attacks used to be. |

Melee touch is on p. 56, PHB1 - it means any target you can reach. I had to go hunting for it; melee touch is a range, rather than a type of attack. I guess they specified it that way because the power itself has its range listed as Personal, and they wanted to avoid people saying "how can you make a melee attack with range Personal!?!" |

Thanks for the clarification. I'm not too keen on the wording of the power as it is, but it's better than a glaring error. |

Windosoul can fly indeed, but windsoul cannot make any attacks along that flight. Nor can the Sky Hunter with the level 12 Utility. A permenant "Turn into a Tiny Creature who cannot attack" power is hardly a problem, and would have given some cool RP options. In fact taking the Level 16 feature and making it an Encounter Utility at level 12, and making the current utility a permanent Wild Shape option at level 16 looks like a much more interesting class to me. Based on reports from the folks in Japan the Dragonborn racial PP is much better for people who want to having a flying character than this PP, which is kind of sad really. This sort of stuff just leaves me wondering who is playtesting this new material. (The Expertise Feats make me wonder the same stuff for that matter.) |
| #12Herid_FelMar 12, 2009 20:55:52 | My largest disappointment is that the prerequisite for Soaring Falcon is wholly unnecessary. The paragon path requires you to have the wild shape power as a prerequisite; why repeat it for the shapechanging utility power? I'd also think that the powers should all have the Polymorph keyword, unless I'm really misunderstanding it. |
| #13CailteMar 14, 2009 2:18:57 | Some things allow you to take a power form anywhere - hence the need for the pre-req. I had the same thought in reading the Epic Druid power that lets you turn into an Eagle..... Also having looked at all the PPs in PHB2 I'm even more disapointed by this one. the Dragonborn Racial PP makes the Skylord look more like the "Ground Hugging Winged Guy". |
