| #1CennediJan 14, 2011 15:37:03 | When will the assassin(executioner) be added to the CB? |
| #2SamrinJan 14, 2011 15:39:56 | It came out in December, so probably February. Magazine content is usually a month behind the rest of the updates. |
| #3lokiareJan 14, 2011 19:33:15 | Doesn't matter really, it'll be broken more than it is in textual form, it won't work properly and by then WotC will be in full denial mode... You'll excuse me for being bitter... |
| #4Cyber-DaveJan 14, 2011 19:34:33 | Except, it isn't broken in textual form. At all. And people have proven that to you. But, I guess it is fun to live life with your fingers in your ears while you scream, "lalalalalalalalalala." |

I don't plan on re-writing it. go troll somewhere else... |
| #6Cyber-DaveJan 14, 2011 20:57:29 | No, it is quite factually proven. The CharOp has examined it and made a final conclusion. I posted the numbers on the level 1 encounter power math. One of the primary posters from the CharOp forums explained how the daily poison math works to you. All you have is an unsubstantiated claim that the forum ate a huge post of yours, which doesn't even indicate that your post had anything of merit in it. You certainly showed that your "math" and "conclusions" are suspect when you showed your incredibly faulty calculations on the 1st level encounter power vs. assassin strike math the first time around. At this point in time you are just sticking your fingers in your ears and going "alalalalalal" because you don't like the state of empirical reality. But hey, I guess throwing facts to the wind because you want to hate on a product line is ok... |

Can you point me towards the CharOp post where they explain it for me, because what I am seeing is not underpowered, but overpowered... |
| #8Cyber-DaveJan 14, 2011 22:12:21 | I didn't say the CharOp board explained it specifically for you (though some of the main CharOp posters have tried to explain it to you in the general forum). The CharOp boards have simply had multiple discussions on the assassin, and concluded that it is a very average striker in terms of DPR (though it has very nice nova/alpha striker capabilities for quick round bursts of damage, which is what it excels at). But, if you are asking in which thread it is concluded that the E-assassin is not overpowered, then in just about every single CharOp post on the E-assassin (in which the conclusion of the forum is that the executioner, while it is workable, is nowhere near as powerful in terms of DPR as something like any incarnation of the ranger). Just go into the CharOp forum and post, "I think the executioner is overpowered. Can someone please explain me why it is not." You will get a flock of people explaining it to you pretty quickly. As it is, you have had some of the major CharOp posters (please note, I am not one of them) try and explain it to you in a number of posts over the general forums. You simply refuse to hear, because you are dead set on believing something that is empirically false. I mean, I posted the level 1 encounter power DPR math for and blew your claim that assassin's strike is overpowered at level 1 right out of the water. Want me to do the math for another level for you? Pick one level, and I will show you that the assassin's DPR does not equal the DPR of an equal number of encounter powers over that level. Want to compare the DPR of assassin poisons vs. daily powers? We can do that to. |

We can ignore feats and magic items if you want, though it really should be done on the CharOp boards... |
| #10Cyber-DaveJan 15, 2011 13:50:30 | Well, we have already done level one (and blown your claim that assassin's strike is overpowered at that level out of the water). Choose another level. |
| #11lokiareJan 15, 2011 15:29:52 | Well, we have already done level one (and blown your claim that assassin's strike is overpowered at that level out of the water). Choose another level. Actually we haven't because you only counted the AS power rather than all the other powers they get at 1st level. Please point me to a thread in the CharOp board where this has been gone over so I can tell what's been gone over... |
| #12Cyber-DaveJan 15, 2011 15:55:57 | No, really, I have. I conclusivly proved that assassin's strike is not stronger than typical encounter powers at level one (and that was your original claim). Now you are trying to move the goal posts to include the class's abilities as a whole. But I am happy to disprove your calim based on your new goalposts as well. I will compare the at-will and daily damage of the class to the at-will and daily damage of other strikers. Give me a bit as I don't currently have the time to make that post for you. But, once my daughter goes to sleep, I will post the math. As for the char op forum, the math is easy to find. All you need to do is check out any of the threads with the word "essentials assassin" in the title. Compare tahe DPR of E-assassin builds to the DPR of other class builds provided in that forum. But, you know what, I will meet your rquest that I be the one to put all the effort into this conversation (and I have been the only one to put any effort into it so far, as I have been the only one to provide any solid math to back up my statements in our conversations across these boards) in a reasonable middle ground. You provide a fully calculated build of the E-assassin complete with a DPR calculation. I will then provide you with an existing build of another class that can outdamage your E-assassin build. I will also create a new thread in the CharOp forums entitled, "lokair thinks the E-assassin is overpowered; prove him wrong" for your benefit (as, it seems, you are incapable of asking the forum for yourself). |

In the amount of time it took you to post the previous message you should have been able to provide a link already. I'm not saying your wrong or anything, I'm saying it should be easy to prove me wrong. Instead you've made multiple posts claiming that you were right and haven't given me a link yet... |
| #14Cyber-DaveJan 15, 2011 16:39:19 | You are not asking for a single link, because up until now the conversations the CharOp board have had about the assassin have taken place over multiple threads (I just created the prove lokair wrong thread, so we will see how many people are willing to contribute to the math in a single thread). What you are asking for is an entire set of cross referenced links to individual posts, which requires that I reread all the threads and find the particular threads in question. That is a good deal more time consuming than typing out a post (especially considering the speed at which I can type). You have, however, had people like lordduskblade tell you that you are flat out wrong and your claims about the assassin are ridiculous. They have explained why. You summarily ignored them. These are major ChapOp build creators. You have made a claim about assassin's strike, and been provided with the math (by me in this case) to prove that you are objectively wrong. Your claims about the assassin have time and time been met with posters who understand the game better than you telling you that you don't know what you are talking about. They provided explanations, math, proof, as to why they were stating what they were stating. You, meanwhile, have provided some very faulty math (because it failed to take many factors from powers themselves into account), and the statement that you made a post which got eaten by the forums, and which you refuse to post again. Yes, I call your claims, and your request that others provide further proof when they have already provided more proof than you are willing to provide, unreasonable and ridiculous. |

| #16VaeronJan 15, 2011 21:32:26 | Geez, if you guys are going to argue about going to the CharOp forum just freaking GO to the CharOp forum. |
| #17blazianJan 15, 2011 22:20:31 | Geez, if you guys are going to argue about going to the CharOp forum just freaking GO to the CharOp forum. To be fair from what I've seen LokaireĀ has been doing this any where that made even the slightest mention of the Executioner. One thing to argue in one place only. Another thing to let misinformation be spread and let people believe it. |
| #18lokiareJan 15, 2011 23:33:16 | Geez, if you guys are going to argue about going to the CharOp forum just freaking GO to the CharOp forum. I've only mentioned it twice, and I have invite anyone to point me to the threads where its discussed, i can't help that people don't do it Also my comments were "The Executioner is a sign of powercreep" not some huge misinformation post that leads people to think that the Executioner is more broken than the ranger or anything... |
| #19Cyber-DaveJan 16, 2011 0:52:39 | Except, as the post I created in the CharOp forum is proving, the executioner is not a sign of powercreep at all. In fact, the executioner exists on the lower half of the striker curve. Unlike the O-assassin it is actually fun and serviceable as a striker. But, it isn't anywhere near overpowered, or a sign of powercreep. Every time you claim otherwise you are spreading misinformation. In any case, anyone who is interested in seeing the math for themselves, it is slowly getting teased out in this thread. |

I do admit that as it appears now, it is not in fact overpowered. Which is what I've been asking you to show me from the start. Now that you have shown me I won't mention it as being overpowered...(just broken)...lol just kidding... |
| #21Cyber-DaveJan 16, 2011 1:08:31 |
Actually, it is not. It is, as people in the thread I linked have been telling you, on the lower curve of the striker group. Math proving that its encounter power arsenal is simply sub-par compared to that of other strikers at level 1 has already been provided. As more math appears in that thread it will eventually prove that that remains true straight until 30th level. Math will also prove that its poisons are, generally speaking, weaker than the daily powers available to other classes. The executioners if fun, serviceable, and not anywhere near the total piece of junk that is the O-assassin. It isn't "underpowered" (at least to the point of being not fun to play). It is capable of providing meaningful contribution to a group. But it is not one of the better striker's in the game. And, everyone in the CharOp forums is telling you as much. The best that can be said about the assassin is that it has strong brust damage. However, its DPR over the course of an encounter is, simply put, not that great. |
