I am so very pleased as well. I was scared by last month's PDF, but I'm happy to see that everything was brought back into line with the awesomeness of the playtest (Shadow Coffin being an encounter power is a-okay with me).

Thank you, Wizards. This is the class I wanted. The only thing that could've made this better is if they somehow engineered a mechanic that allowed it to instigate and prey on helplessness in foes that was balanced and at-will all at once. And frankly, it is just fine that they didn't try to do that, because I couldn't think of a fair way to do it either.

Once more, thank you Wizards of the Coast!

Dec 21, 2010 6:28:44 Excellent, the changes from Deadly Strike to Attack Finesse suddenly made my garroteering assassin a bit more viable as an executioner instead of as a brutal scoundrel rogue. Now to decide whether a light shield or two-weapon defense works best with a two-handed strangling cord...

It REALLY needs feat support, though. Amazed that they didn't provide any feats with the article.

All of the essential classes are in dire need of feat support. Especially warlock (almost all feats require curse, or shadow walk) and druid (all but one feat requires wild shape or a beast form power). Assassin can at least poach a modicum of feats from it's parent class. Some essentials builds are not so lucky.

All of the other essentials classes at least have support from their parent classes in one way or another. Like the thief being able to take backstabber. The executioner has nothing. It's just slightly below par in the damage department, not really what I'd expect from an assassin.
