From the D&D FAQ
That said, we’re also making sure that many products released before 4th Edition are “edition-proof,” meaning they can be used in any edition of the game (such as the Grand History of the Realms). In addition, other 3.5 products (such as Exemplars of Evil and Elder Evils) will receive 4th Edition updates, via D&D Insider.

So far none of the updates promised in the various books seems to have appeared, nor has there been any official word about them, despite repeated requests for some of the Eberron stuff for example.

Incidentally, what was the source for the quote referenced by the OP?

No news on this front sadly. Like the dungeon builder and virtual tabletop, it is probably another promise broken by WotC

I can provide some information on the 4e updates of 3e products.

We commissioned the updates back in 2008, but the work needed a lot of development, and other projects forced us to delay this work. That said, we have two of the updates in typesetting currently and the others being revised/edited as we speak. We're currently planning to release the updates next month (July).

I apologize for the painfully long delays in delivering on our promise to the D&D community.

Good news ;). I'm hoping for an update to Exemplars of Evil and Elder Evils as well. Don't s'pose anyone has a listing of exactly which products were promoted as 'edition proof? (I can't remember anymore).

Thanks. I wasn't sure if there were other updates I should be keeping my eyes peeled for. Exemplars and Elder Evils are the ones I'm hoping to see the most.

The Fiendish Codicies weren't part of that list? Bleh.

Nice to see Wizards following through though; even if I don't own any of the products on that list. Very cool. And cool that Chris Perkins came by to share the news.

Finally! Great, it sure took a long time, but I'm happy they actually got developed properly instead of just slapped together.
I can't wait to see all these great monsters (from Exemplars and Elder Evils) added to the compendium (assuming they will be)

Well heck, if the updates actually come out then I guess I'll go pick up a copy of Elder Evils and Exemplars of Evil....! Crossing fingers now.

I've been waiting all this time for Stormreach and Dragons of Eberron. I had no idea Elder Evils was slated for an update. I eagerly await the update. I thought Elder Evils was a fantastic book.

Can't wait to see Atropos!
