| #1melloredFeb 11, 2011 10:22:58 | Just figuring out how much damage an expanded crit-range is really worth. Compaired to say... weapon focus. First off there are a few things crit range has over weapon focus. 1) It's not accuracy depenand. If you hit on a 11, weapon focus is worth 1.5, if you hit on a 2, it's worth 2.8. Crit's are worth the same no matter what (assuming you hit on an 18, which i am). 2) Many things can trigger off it crits, such as stun/dominate/free action points/heals/ect.. I'm going to discount those as well and just focus on damage, but you should not. 3) It's independant of your damage mod. It only maximizes dice, thus a 1d6 + 400 attack will see as much gain as a 1d6+1. Anyways, onto math. I will be assuming 6d6 crit dice, and a 19-20 crit. For 18-20 double the gain, 17-20 tripple. Avengers or other re-rolls can figure it out on there own. The equasion is (21 (6d6 crit dice) + max base dice - average base dice) * .05 (extra chance to crit). Max = 2*(average-.5 * dice thrown), with a little factoring.. Show (21 + 2*(average-.5 * dice thrown) - average) *.05 (21 + 2*average- 1 * dice trown - average)*.05 (21 - dice trown + 2* average - average)*.05 |

I'd also say that from a player psychology perspective, expanded crit is much more valuable. I always find it a little irksome when I COULD have crit if I'd got the right feat/PP, rather than if I could have done an extra 1/2/3 damage with all my attacks. |

Nope, this is for high levels. With a +6 weapon. Anyways, if someone want's to delete this... |
