Eye on Dark Sun Series - What do you want to see covered?

A few days ago, I (wrongly) began to suspect that the Dungeon 188 cover art featured with the ToC came from the upcoming "Eye on Dark Sun" article, not "Baelard's Legacy."  Given the vrocks, I wondered if Rodney was going to cover demons and/or devils on Athas, which I thought would be a cool subject to explore.  That left me thinking about other subjects that we in the community would like him to eventually cover.  So what do you want Rodney to cover in future articles in the series?

PS, and this is not related to Dark Sun, but can we get an Eberron equivalent to the Eye on the Realms and Eye on Dark Sun series?  Eberron could use the DDI support.

Plus one for Eye on Eberron !

Well, we did get Expeditionary Dispatches before.  I always thought those were Eberron's answer to Eye on the Realms.  But then Dark Sun got an uncreative name for their equivalent article series, because it just copypasta'd FR's article series name.  But in any case, I'd either like to see more of those, or an Eye on Eberron or whatever.  Just a regular article on Eberron lore and locations and movers and shakers.  Seems that they got that back in 2009, but that since Dark Sun's release in 2010, Eye on Dark Sun replaced Expeditionary Dispatches' place in Dungeon.

I'd like to see how Demons and Devils are treated in Athas.  But even more so, I'd like to see more along the lines of that early Campaign Classics article that featured Dark Sun desert environments and everything out to eat/kill/maim you.

As a side note, now that Dark Sun is no longer a Campaign Classic but a full-on 4e Setting, can we have more Campaign Classics featuring other retired or not-yet reinstated Campaign Settings?

I was thinking more along the lines of the 3.5e Dragonshards series written by Keith Baker, then the "Expeditionary Dispatches" series, which I believe had multiple authors.  Campaign Classics would be cool too.

I agree, you can never have enough desert hazards on Athas.  I'd also be interested in seeing 4e materials on the Deadlands.

And I am sure I am not the only one, but I thoroughly have enjoyed the treatments of say "In Search of the Unknown" and "Against the Cult of the Reptile God" wherein they updated particular encounters to 4th ed. Those were truly inspiring to me.

As far as Dark Sun articles I would like to see, I would agree with the OP, I would like to see some treatment of devils and demons in the world of Athas.

I'd like to see more info and perhaps some skill challenges on desert survival. I like this to be an important part of my Dark Sun game, but after while saying things like "It's really hot, now make an endurance check" start to sound a little lame. I don't think desert travel should be handwaved by the DM and players. Please give me some great ideas to spice it up. Thanks!

I've said it before. I really want to see an article that can recapture the elemental priest angle that the AD&D version once had. That flavor was really fantastic and setting-defining for many of us. While a shaman can fill in, a single-element focused priest would be really cool. In my home campaign I allow the Earth warpriest, reskinning divine to primal. I think that could really work as a basis... perhaps an article that could work for many settings (in DS: primal; outside of DS: divine).

The thri-kreen, mul, and half-giant (goliath) could use some setting-specific love.

I would like to see some of the classic weapons brought back and more arena and weapon feats to make these options more attractive. A table of what weapons make sense in DS from the core weapons would be nice to have. I have it based on fan and my own work, but something official would help a lot of people.

I would like to see a better wild talent system that has more powers and is either balanced or has a table where you can roll to gain a random power.

I would like to see alternate defiling rules for different campaign styles.

I think a Dark Sun adventure path in Dragon would be really well received. Gamers are constantly asking for more adventures (with Ashes of Athas announcing it will be supporting home play eventually, this helps, but I still see a need).

I think an article on the undead of Dark Sun would be welcome, perhaps tied into the cosmology of the grey and the black. I think that angle could use some underscoring in the 4E version. It could be a combination of background on undead and the cosmology, info on undead-heavy locations on Athas (adventure seeds), and then monster themes and sample encounter ideas.

I'd like to see descriptions of some really fantastic geographic locations. When you read the old "Wanderer's Journal", one of the things that really stood out was that the land itself was just as interesting as the creatures that inhabited it. Maybe a description of strange mesas, a mountain rising out of the sea of silt, a forest of petrified trees. Anything strange and magnificent that really brings out the character of Athas.

I'd like to see some attention given to the merchants of Athas.  The dynamic between the merchant houses, indipendent traders, and the elven tribes should be interesting and complex enough to warrant some more focus.
