| #1mistresszeldaApr 27, 2011 15:54:45 | Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial or the supplements for FantasyGrounds? I'm trying to run a 4th edition campaign for my coworkers and the easiest way for us to play together is online...I used it once before but didn't get very far, and I feel like after downloading it I might be missing some components. What do I need to do to get this thing running? Thanks in advance! |

If you are interested, I just joined a new campaign running on Saturday nights, 7pm to 11pm EST. The DM is actually looking for one more player. As for how to get you started... are you planning on running 4E? If so, the ruleset comes with it. The tricky thing is the modules and libraries (i.e. the core content). I can help with that when you are ready. |
| #3mistresszeldaApr 27, 2011 22:15:24 | I definitely am not going to have time to join a game in progress, and I can't have any weekly obligations with my job/hobbies. Thank you though. The reason I am using FantasyGrounds is because a group of people at work want to play, and we are here 70+ hours a week. So FantasyGrounds seemed the easiest way to play the game during work hours. Most of my players have never played before, so we are going to run 4th edition since it's the easiest to pick up. I'd much rather play 3.5, but whatever. We all have the program installed although most people haven't gone through the character creation yet. What I need to figure out is how to get a pre-made module running and how to use the program as a DM. I mean, I guess we could play through irc or something, but FantasyGrounds seems like a great program. I just don't remember how to work it XD Thanks for the help! The modules are what I need, for sure |
| #4JhariiApr 27, 2011 22:33:27 | Well, you may have a hard time finding premade adventures for 4E. 3.5 is OGL, so there are tons of adventures as well as all of the rules and source material (SRD) integrated. FG2 only has the ruleset for 4E integrated, everything else you have to supply yourself or find someone shady enough to share theirs with you. |
| #5mistresszeldaApr 27, 2011 23:04:26 | Ah, there are no modules available on the up and up? I can probably find someone shady regardless. *makes shifty eyes* Do you think it's a good program to play on? How does it compare to actual tabletop? |
| #6JhariiApr 27, 2011 23:26:40 | Well, nothing really compares to the tabletop, but it certainly does capture the essence of it. I personally think it's the closest, especially if you mix in a voice chat program. And I am not really aware of any legit modules or adventures out there. The community is pretty straight-laced when it comes to that as far as I can tell. |
