I just created a character and spent a long while trying to figure out why plate armor proficiency wasn't available as a feat. Of course you know the answer -- the character didn't have the necessary prerequisites (in this case his attributes weren't high enough). Let's forget for the minute whether those prerequisites are reasonable for plate armor.

The fact is I couldn't find the feat and couldn't see why it wasn't there. I was reduced to making one change to the character after another till the feat appeared. There's got to be a better way. Couldn't the feats be greyed out or red or something to indicate that the character doesn't currently have the prerequisites so at least you could see what was lacking? Or let them be selected anyway with a houserule icon on the feat? That way you would know what you needed to change to make the houserule icon go away.

The way it works now can be very frustrating. Thanks.

You can view all the "illegal" feats by using the houserule icon in the upper-right of the feats window (that will also let you select a feat you can't normally get). The illegal feats are shown in red when you do that. By default, though, you can only see feats for which you qualify.

However, I would like to be able to display illegal feats for each feat group (in other words, if I'm looking at armor proficiencies, I'd like to be able to click the houserule icon just for armor proficiencies, and have the entire list show up). Otherwise, you have to wade through hundreds of feats to find the one you were looking for, and it's very tedious.

Even better would be if you could set it to show feats while disregarding only some requirements. Like an option to show feats for which you don't have the trained skill, or for which your ability score(s) are too low. It's going to be very rare when I want to see the choices for all classes or all deities (for Channel Divinity), let alone all at once.
