| #1kynocerosMar 13, 2009 15:24:09 | I've searched these forums to and fro looking for a feature request thread, to no avail. So I'm starting one. Note: there are venues for character builder feature requests: Character Builder Feedback Character Builder Technical Issues My request: I was shocked to find out that there is no way to change the email address associated with a DDI subscription. So says Paul from the Online Response Crew. This is a minor inconvenience now, and could be significantly troublesome later. I wish I'd known before paying that I'd be locked into this email address for a year. Anyone else have DDI feature requests? |

MORE being any or all of the above. * A map maker program with print options. * A nifty die rolling program that is flashy. * A way to download books I own in an acrobat-esk format. * If not a way to do that maybe a way to buy books in download form or maybe even get them for free but have to read them straight off the site. * A battle grid that can be used and changed right on my laptop during combat in a session. I know i could use any grid program but i want something flashy with cool pics. I know it sounds kinda bitter and fickle but really im paying money here every month. I know i could be stealing what i want and getting it all for free online elsewhere but i want to pay for a product. Its not that what they have out right not isnt good but i would never have even bought it if my players didnt pitch in for the first month. Its not like an mmo, i know wizards dose not use they money like an mmo dose. i want to see a bang for my buck. Its not that the things are that hard to bring on. most of this can be found elsewhere but i want the flashy finished version money pays for. I dont want to steal books i want to pay. Let me pay. Id even pay 10 a month if i had access to books. I know this would bring down sales of actual books but come we are paying money. Money every month. |

| #4gridspiderApr 10, 2009 14:25:49 | Stealing books off the net is easy but still illegal and immoral and threatens the publishing biz alltogether. In these times of struggling economy everyone is looking to get the most out of their cash. So far DDI is a waste of money and in no way meets the advertised claims. I have to wonder was there a DDI Beta? nobody brought up all these issues BEFORE going LIVE? Did the Dev's even look at it and ask themselves "would I pay for this product?" . When you compare the monthly cost of DDI to an MMO you quickly get a feeling your paying for considerably less than an MMO offers. How would I improve DDI and make it worth every dollar? 1.) make the monster builder more printer friendly. I want a nice looking printout that is easy to read and uses far far far less space. preferably a monster should be able to be printed to look exactly as those in the monster manual. 2.) more "houserule" friendly. in the character builder monster builder and encounter builder I want the ability to change anything I like on a whim. I want to be able to input data directly. 3.)Not sure if DDI covers it kinda new here but I want the ability to create adventures in a packaged form that would closely duplicate adventures created and in print by WotC and be able to share these with other DDI members. including maps encounters and rewards. I feel DDI should essentially be community driven a place where gamers all around the world can share ideas. 4.) I would LOVE to see the monster builder become a valuable asset to a community driven DDI where as I could create a new monster with a printable format that exactly duplicates the MM. These monsters could be set into their own page where players could share them. Also the same should be available for magic items. 5.) Campaign worlds. I would also like to see A dungeon master zone where DM's can upload maps and campaign details of their world. I know there are some very creative people out there who would Add to the overall gaming genre 6.) random monster/npc generator. Id like to see a random encounter generator something that you can get a fast encounter set to a party level with a click of the mouse. for those days i'm not fully prepared. Obviously WotC needs to turn a profit publishing is very difficult to succeed with these days but as mmo's have shown a monthly subscription is the way to go. and even better why not have your community do the publishing for you all the hard work of writing and providing content to the DnD world. Personally if I could log into DDI and be able to do anything i want to make my gaming better including sharing ideas with other players I'd pay the 15 bucks a month an MMO charges. and unlike an MMO which lasts for maybe 6 months before it gets old DnD I have been playing for over 20 years. RPG table top games provide far greater use of the mind and imagination than any MMO ever will and this is what WotC needs to exploit. look at the numbers. I game with 4-7 players once a week out of those players we bought 2 PH1, 1 PH2, 2 MM, 1 DMG and a ton of battle mats, miniatures and other support items. Essentially 7 players only need 1 set of books thus for every 7 people your only going to sell 1 book. But DDI if it is made so well it becomes essential then probably 5 of my players would subscribe EVERY month. five times $15 as apposed to 6 times $35 thats $75 a month EVERY month as apposed to $210 once means that it would only take 3 months to make a greater profit. This of course does not even take into account that we could of easilt stolen a PDF version of every one of those books and WotC would have not made a dime. If all the books were available if the character generator map generator etc all the tools worked well the subscription would be well worth it to everyone and stealing would be pointless. |
