So if Mage is supposed to be a 'subclass' of wizard, how come a mage cannot use any of powers from PHB.

IE: I want to create a pyromancy Mage. I should be able to use Scorching Burst, but since I am a mage, this isn't a selectable option, even though I am a wizard by design.

This should be a feature that I am allowed to pick, otherwise the schools are of little use if you don't have the range of spells available to them.

This is a confirmed bug (I talked to customer service about it earlier today).  It only applies to the at-wills it would seem (for other powers you can click the "show additional options" box to see them).  I'm sure they'll fix it sometime soon...Undecided

I just found a workaround until they fix the bug (or lock down the workaround):

1) Create a Mage using vecna.wizards.com, save character file in notepad as .dnd4e
2) Create a Wizard using vecna.wizards.com, give that Wizard the at-wills you wanted
3) Go to the debug tab and view the xml for that Wizard, copy-paste its at-wills over the Mage's at-wills in the .dnd4e file
4) Upload .dnd4e file - It will show as houseruled, but it will work.
5) Profit
