I am running the Scales of War adventure path and we are finally about to begin the Epic level. The adventures keep on referring that the collation is still at war?  Wasn't the war with the Gityanki?  I do not see the members of the collation wanting to war against a god.

Is there something else going on that I am missing?

From what I recall, tiamat was behind the githyanki invasion and tiamat is still up to something. The githyanki were just part of her ultimate plan...

You might want to check out my Scales of War Epic Tier Ongoing Notes thread in the SOW DM's Group.

Thank you for your response, and the link to your notes.  I guess what I am finding hard to believe is that the coalition would want to stay together when they now find out that they need to fight against a god.

The way I am going to alter it, is that there is going to be a Dragon War, where chromatic are going to fight metallic in the world.  The Dragon War is the manifestation of Tiamats effect on the world.

The heroes will handle the god stuff, as this in my mind makes the distinction between paragon tier and epic.

What are your thoughts?

I think that will work just fine, actually. The whole tier involves plots of tiamat's or her exarchs. People complained a lot about Bahamut dying "off-screen", so maybe you could work that in somehow.

Spoilers.....

I am OK with Bahamut dying "off-screen" as long as their is an effect on the world.  What makes this epic to me, is the idea of Justice losing to Selfishness.

With the Dragon War I can easily show the results as well as show what happens to the people in the world.  Can you imagine all but brief instance when all the people will lean more towards selfishness than towards caring.

To mechanically represent this, I am also thinking about introducing a no flanking rule,  All Allies are treated as enemies, no aid-another rule.  (ie no team work) until Bahamut is restored. Must make a unmodified saving throw if you want to use the rules as normal.  Maybe allow modifiers if a pc has it against charm or domination effects.

Do you think these rules will upset things to much until someone becomes Bahamut again?
