Finally Impressed with WotC!!!!!!!

Dec 06, 2010 0:18:50 I have been gone since August. Last I was here, I started a thread concearning my feelings (negative) on my last DDi subscription, and the lack of onest & open communication with the community.

Then I was right (IMHO), today I believe I would be wrong. I see that there are regular updates, even here on the forums, about DDi, and what is to come. I don't remember Mr. Kidd. He may be new, or maybe I am getting senile, but I see he has been keeping all of us up to date on everything to the best of his abilities. Thank you Mr. Kidd, and thank you WotC.

I have always spoke my mind here, and sometimes it wasn't very nice. I just want you all to know, that I see an effort is really being made, and like I would have posted if my opinions were negative, I am posting now that they are positive.

I am sure that I will soon be a subscriber again, and hope to get my hands on all the new goodies as soon as possible. So again, thank you WotC for finally opening up to the community!!! Good news, or bad, I will always appreciate your honesty about anything related to D&D and/or DDi.

Don't be to fast on those statements. The Virtual Tabletop isn't available to DDI subscribers yet, also as far as I know, there was no official announcement about it beeing part of the DDI subscribtion once released.
It might end up beeing a separate product, require an upgrade of your subscribtion or even raise the fee. On the other hand it could be free to use, but unless there is an official announcement, you better look at it as a separate product, that has yet no relation to the DDI subscribtion.

Edit @ frothsof: Boy it is really hard to argue with some one in a non navitve language, especially if that someone doesn't read your posts properly.

So let's try making a list out of it:

VT is not a released product yet;

VT beta access is not included into your DDI subscribtion yet;

VT was not announced to be part of the normal DDI subscribtion, once it is released;

They explecitely left open the question, if the VT will need any additional fee to use it;

By the way, I think the option of it beeing free to all users is even more positive than your "it is included unless told otherwise" statement.
What I want to make clear in one sentence: "Don't expect to get the VT or an invitation to the beta simply by subscribing, it might be the case in the near future, but it is not at this point in time."

By the way, all my points here are facts, stating the status quo, except the statement about the price of the VT and for that I indeed have an official post:

Q: What is the pricing going to be on the finished product?
A: We have not finalized any pricing decisions at this time.
