Hey gang. With the new website launch today I wanted to let you know that the DDI tools are still up, availalbe, and working. You can find them at dndinsider.com. If you experience any problems using the tools after the new site transition, let me know.

I don't know if you have the knowledge, or if you're allowed to answer, but I'd like to ask anyway:

Is there any chance of either a price drop or even making the tools free, now that 4E is officially over, and 5E is now being supported? The tools are definitely nice, but since 4E is no longer the focus of WotC, I was thinking there are 3 possibilities of what could be done as a favor to those still playing 4E

1. Make D&D Insider free for everyone to use

2. Reduce the price of D&D Insider

3. Make the tools avaliable as a one time purchase

I know you're probably just going to say you don't have a comment, but I figured I would give it a shot.

Thanks,

Jarret

Edit:

Actually, it looks like you guys have already made the decision to keep charging for them, but only as long as enough people pay or they're just going to disappear. It's pretty disappointing, but not entirely unexpected. Basically, it's invevitable that eventually it will no longer be worth it for WotC to maintain the tools, and then they'll just disappear, leaving all of us who rely on them out in the cold.

Or perhaps provide a direct link on the new site for the 4e DDI tools? If it wasn't for posts like this one I would have never known it was still up and running! Too bad it's not being supported anymore. The 4e tools was really nice and useful. If the site goes down I'm not sure if I will continue to play D&D. Unless there is going to be a 5e tool like 4e had?

I'm with Feyaro.

It would provide a huge amount of good will to provide these tools for free or at a greatly reduced price since content support for 4e has been non-existant for 6 months... At least, consider  providing Character Builder for free. Unfortunately, 4e character generation  and level updates are made especially cumbersome without the Character Builder. Please throw 4e fans a bone.

I've purchased 5e products, and am playing in a 5e campaign, but I also have a 4e campaign that is ongoing. Cut us a little slack. We continue to support WotC without content updates. It can't hurt to give a little back to the 4e community.

Here's the new link that was not posted:

I agree Feyaro. After paying the subscription fee for years, (the cost FAR in excess of buying the books many times over), now that the toolset has been archived, it needs to be discounted. If it is just "turned off" without being ported back to it's original "offline" database there will be a very strong negative community reaction.

Please, be good to those who have supported your brand for so many years.

Where do I update my Insider payment info now?

I need to update my payment info so when the auto renew kicks in it does not throw a fit over an expired card.  But with the site overhaul I can't quite seem to find where to get at the insider subscription stuff.  Or ANY account info that isn't forums stuff.

What am I missing here?

EDIT:  At the bottom of the page where they moved the 4th Ed stuff is a "My account" link. All this results in after trying to update my card is giving me "Error, we are currently unable to perform the selected action. We are so sorry, we are working on this honest" Message. WELP.

Is there some not buried deep in the old 4th ed pages method to reach your insider options I am missing?  Or ETA on when we will be allowed to fix our payment options? My account expiration is two months away, but if they are waiting on all of NEXT's books to be out before doing anything with insider...

Also, yeesh.  If I try to change my payment method from the history page, it pops open a "are you sure?" box... With two broken images for my button options.  Both in firefox, and explorer.

This behavior by WoTC has me worried, as I am running an ongoing 4E campaign and I can not, nor am I interestred investing in another rule set, but I fear that they will at some point cut off the access to the 4E content in an effort to drive those of us that are clinging to 4E into D&D NEXT. However in my case it will just force me and my players from the game we love, as we would find it impossible to run our campaign, and build and level our characters without the online material.  Please do not do that, I would be willing to purchase the complete online tool set for a reasonable price.

I'm glad someone posted this. I spent fifteen minutes searching through that god awful new site to find DnDI. I'd very much like to see the tools given out for free or at least a one time purchase. I'm not going to continue to pay monthly for content that isn't being updated, I'll just do the legwork myself. I'm not going to "quit playing DnD altogether" thought as many others have stated, but if I'm going to be doing more legwork to play then I'm going back to 3.5.

I'm kind of surprised they don't just roll in the 5.0 stuff here.  I've been subbed since DDI was launched, but haven't played 4.0 in a while since I'm the only person I know who liked it.  With 5.0 we'll definitely be switching, so I guess I may as well cancel DDI. Lame, but it is what it is.
