| #1lwrJun 05, 2009 4:51:57 | I have a problem with fix damage powers. My DM says that fix damage powers cause ONLY the damage that the power says and no other modifiers are included for example from feats, items, enhancement bonuses, etc... That's OK for me but I created my character with wotc's character builder and it did included every single modifier my character has (the above mentioned feats, items, enhancements, versatile weapon, etc...). Please help me to solve this problem! If my fighter takes the reaping strike power, which causes 1/2 str damage on a miss (or 1 str damage with a two-handed weapon), may I count enhancement bonuses, item bonuses, feat bonuses or even power attack into the damage on a miss? The calculation on character builder was a bug perhaps? |

If it however simply says "+x on damage" then it should add to fixed numbers (though I haven't myself found anything that says so yet). If the CB doesn't follow these assumptions, then yes it would be a bug. |

It is possible there is something obscure someplace, but if CB is adding enhancement bonuses or anything like that to fixed damage values it is just plain wrong. Always take CB with a grain of salt. It works quite well most of the time, but it is neither bug free nor is its interpretation of the rules always matched with the rest of the world. It does seem odd though since this would be a fairly major bug and I don't recall seeing it. What version of CB are you using? Maybe you have old code... |

My invoker was getting the Staff of Ruin bonuses added to his 0 damage daily (CB10 slow) in the previous version of Character Builder and it is now fixed. It would have been a nice minion killer.... |

Never say never, the Paladin power Channel Divinity: Divine Strength adds to your next attack; which would include fixed damage. It's an odd enough exception that they could have easily left it out. |
